That was a good movie. I remember there were actually a bunch of little kids in the audience when I went to see it, I guess their parents thought it would be a cute buddy story. And it was. But it was also a story about living with Alzheimer's, and I don't think those kids were really able to understand what that meant.

Chitti is a tragic figure, yes.

There also was an US movie from the 80s that featured a robot trying to impregnate a woman, but it was pretty terrible.
