Kinda wished he had a moment to reflect on shooting the refugee ship, but other than that he was one of the best things of C.E.

Character who was loyal to his cause, but would bend the rules for the people he cared about. His scenes at the end of SEED and beginning of SEED Destiny were great.

It's the best because it is simple and practical. Everything else in CE is either overdesigned around a transformation gimmick and/or lugging around an absurd backpack. While Duel did get its Assault Shroud upgrade, it's a comparatively simple armor attached to an MS while most other CE Gundams come across as a gimmick backpack with an MS attached to it.

If SEED were entirely about Athrun's group it'd be a better show. All four of them were likable kids and were generally fleshed out and built on over the course of the show. You can see the staff cared more about them than the rest of the show's cast.

Kira's friends however all either get little to no focus, or are irritating shits. They're so boring and most of the actual screentime is dedicated to them.
