ITT silly stuff
>enemy right in front in plain sight
>chooses to walk up to it instead of shooting it
>"huh, my hands have been shot off and I am now defenseless, let's see who the shooter is"

Yeah turns out machine guns are had to aim. Retard.

Yep. Zakus guns suck so they have to get right up next to a guy for their weapons to land hits. Otherwise the bullets just shoot off at ninety degree angles if the gun barrel is less than two meters away from the target.

There's still going to be recoil, genius and if you're trying to take a gunTANK you want your bullets to not scatter around as much which means you need to get closer.

Guntanks don't have strong armor. The Gouf's dinky 35mm guns were able to blow it up from a far distance.

If someone shot off your hands you wanna know who did it

Or maybe not shoot full auto or to a point where the recoil is significant? Single shot or shooting in small bursts won't give much kick to throw off aim. I mean, you can let go of the trigger every once in a while. You're not obligated to squeeze the trigger once and hold until every last bullet leaves the drum just because you have an automatic.

MS "machine gun" weapons are typically depicted with pretty terrible accuracy and effective range, and the Zaku 120mm MG is in particular an early war weapon that lacks accuracy and penetrative power of the smaller but better 90mm MGs that would follow it.
so this Zaku is creeping towards this thing knowing that at any moment, it might run into whatever is undoubtedly guarding it, knowing that the second it opens fire it will be revealing its position. so it waits. it tries to get a little closer, because maybe it can surprise an MS bodyguard and then take on the feeble MP guntank.

This is one of the more annoying things about Gundam. The guns they use would be capable of hitting targets at least twenty miles away.
