**MELEE GROUP BUILD**

Build/paint a robot with a loadout focused on melee combat! Anything from shields to swords to lances to axes to bare fists is fair game. There's no room for ranged weaponry here, however, so anything resembling a rifle, Rocket Launcher, cannon, pistol, or any other ranged weapon is a no-go (Small ranged weapons that are built into the kit itself like head vulcans are ok, however).

More clarification here:
>If the body part has a built-in ranged weapon (head/chest vulcans, claw beams, etc), then that's fine. If it's a separate part like the Alex's arm vulcans it's best to leave those off.
>Melee weapons with in-universe ranged capabilities (Like the Kimaris's lance or the Gyan's shield) are fair game too.
>Any scale and any brand is fair game here, you're not limited to just using Gundams this time around.

looking around again it seems that the mr cement limonene type has the same consistency as mr cement s or tamiya extra thin cement, so just keep that in mind when you use it

also if you can, mr leveling thinner works much better than mr color thinner, and mr retarder added on top of that will even out your coats even more

Looks good, I love the proportions and flexibility.

The only thing that bugs me so far is that is looks like there is no alternate left hand with fingers extended, just that square-hole hand that looks awful when its not holding anything. Unless the reviewer did not included the alternate hand in the review.

Have you seen how the zeta transforms? Just transferring the limbs and armor to a seperate part is far cheaper, easier, and sturdier than working in a full transformation gimmick.

What exactly is it about real grades that make them grenades? Is it just loose parts or is the plastic too thin in other places?
Would a tiny bit of cement fix some issues?

Finally topcoated my Lupus and Vidar today. Took two nice shots outside.

The only mg's Ive done are chars zak and the fab geese. The actual build was ok I guess. Its hared to do custom stuff with all the inner frame shenanigans. That being said as strait builds, or with a bit of paint they look nice. But both the fabgeese and the zak had ussues with parts rubbing together and chipping the paint. The thing that comes to mind is the elbow plates on the zak. Idk if thats an issue on other MG's. They do look pretty decent even if you dont do anything to them.

To add to that, the Old-HG Zeta had its transformation modified, because they couldn't get the normal transformation to work at 1/144 back then. It's technically the "Wave Shooter" Zeta due to that.

The engineering is fine for the most part, I just wish that they would have been able to separate the edges of the flying armor. Those foils are so bad I'm seriously considering either not finishing my Zeta team or just getting the RG instead.

The accessories are looking pretty good for the Barzam too. Its got closed fists AND spread hands!

I don't really see a problem with the zeta, I'm just happy I only need three color to paint it up and make it look good. I've very happy with it, I can finally get a really good Zeta Gundam team on my shelf. I would love more parts separation but hey this will be fun.

Zeta had a lot of clout behind it, being the first AE kit and, well, the fucking' Zeta.

It's got good engineering, loads of inner-frame parts, and introduced the new shoulder joints that the Barzam uses. But those changes aren't outwardly visible, and what's readily apparent is that it's just as much of a partsformer as the original and the red on the Waverider wings are stickers -- never mind that partsforming is more stable than an accurate transformation, or that the color separation is far better than the first HGUC's, or that it's still got raised edges on the wings that make it easier to paint the red parts.

Meanwhile everyone's just glad that the Barzam finally gets a kit that also takes advantage of all of the advances in Gunpla engineering. Also Barzam memes.

mg 2.0 looks great, but very finicky to move, especially the hips and arms. the feet are very weird as well. comes with a base so it was made to either stand there like in the hangar or launching/arial poses. iirc the weapons like to fall out often but other than that, it will hold together. transformation looks great, but its a pain to transform. theres a reason why the whole torso is replaced

I went to lunch with him yesterday and showed him some of my kits and was telling him about building and customizing and stuff and he really got into it. The local model shop. The guy running it sold be a couple old beat to shit messerschmitts for cheap as free. The scales were 1:48 and 1:72. But half the decals didnt seem original to the kit. It looked like they got thrown in there an forgotten about. So who the fuck knows what they actually are. I used the tamiya plane stuff, with testors for some detailing/reverse washing. I dont think I'll ever use testors again as a main base after the multiple times I had it just melt off for no reason. Maybe they are better with an air brush, idk. Not bad as far as the colors go. Although I will say every time I tried to use red in my color schemes it stuck out REALLY bad. Although a more muted red like in your pic is better.

This is a problem ship and tank builders get with old decals a lot, it's called "Silvering".
Did you gloss coat before you applied the decals?
Did you use any decal softener? If not you can try to apply decal softener and "scratch " the decal with a razor blade. It should reduce the silvering.

IBO kits are often limited to 100 degree bends in the arm/leg joints. and otherwise have comparable range of motion to contemporary HGUCs/Revives/Origins that were released at the same time. Meanwhile the new Zeta has the same engineering as modern HGUCs, along with a new set of shoulder joints.

First time painter, after I paint do I want to do a full gloss or semi gloss top coat to detail and panel line? Semi gloss brings it back to almost that plastic sheen. I think I'm going to do the full gloss as the final top coat but I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm using Tamiya metallic spray cans as well as their various top coats. I think I have all the clear coats, Clear, Semi Gloss, Flat, and Pearl....
