i remember when i watched this anime when it broadcasted in Locomotion Mexico.

at the time, the only thing i knew about SRW was that it was a thing, and thats all, so i never really cared about the comparisons to the source material.

we always believed that this anime had a sequel, supposedly called 'Blue seed', specially since the ADs for this anime in Loco showed footage from a very different thing. but i imagine thats not true, at the end i discovered that the ADs footage was from the PSX panzer warfare game, and it wasnt related at all to the anime or that Blue seed thing.

For the people asking why no Blu Ray, Discotek only goes Blu Ray day one for stuff they know that's going to sell immediately, like Castle of Cagliostro. The majority of their Blu Rays are double dips for stuff that's already sold well enough for them on DVD, including Space Adventure Cobra and Golgo 13. This does well enough and a Blu Ray release may be on the cards. Right Stuff had Blu Ray remasters of Turn A and was still cautious about doing it until the DVDs sold.

That and it's fucking Dancouga, the show CPM couldn't even be bothered to release on DVD when they were scrambling for ANYTHING to offset bankruptcy. Low sales are to be expected and their business model is based on high quality license rescues of old series or niche shows that 100 people will always buy. And running at a financial loss as part of an off-shore money laundering scheme but that's obvious, how else do you explain someone licensing all the cool shit they do and staying in business?

When they picked up Pilot Candidate some people were saying that it's common for Japanese companies to basically say that if you want to license their good show then you also have to take their bad one. It has to do with how they judge the performance of the licensing division, apparently.

I've never botheted with the cybuster anime, but I love the shit out of dancouga, so I'm picking that up immediately.

Discotek seems to be on a roll with production reed/ashi mech shows with those 2 and goshogun, now I'm hoping they get their hands on baldios, machine robo, and dancouga nova soon.

I don't think anyone would want to watch Dorvack. It's pretty bad and doesn't have anything going on that would appeal to modern viewers. Or any viewers really. The best thing about it is the OP and the one episode with flying Moai heads. I've rarely seen shows where the main characters have less personality or plot agency.

I hope so. Burning Epilogue is supposedly dogshit, but that's not going to stop Discotek if they're contractually obligated to release it as a part of their licensing deal. That probably explains otherwise incomprehensible releases like Izumo and Psybuster. Then again, if there's no release requirement and the sales are bad, Discotek can and will drop further releases. That's why they're not touching Saint Seiya anymore, and probably also explains why they haven't released the Library War movie, even though it's a necessary conclusion to the TV series.

I'd actually dragged the Burning Epilogue project off the backburner the day before this was announced. Still debating if I should release all 4 episodes together or just the BD version of 1 and the new subs for 2.
The Discotek announcement only mentions the 38 episode TV series, nothing on the OVAs.
