About halfway through but it's all kinda meshed together. The escape stuff was fun to watch.

The animation still kinda kills it for me unfortunately, because I really like the VFs and the early designs.

Plus was great, except for the characters and the fact that they could've shown a lot more of just the trials without all that drama at the end. But I guess that's to be expected.

That is just my opinion as someone who only just got into it because of space tomcats

The Zentradi are fully enclosed in their various machines, so unless there's some kind of permeable material that the beam can pass through like the canopy glass of those VF-11 cockpits, it won't be any use.

Against Vajra, it'd be hard to say. All living things have spiritia, but would their hardened carapaces make the beam less effective? Who knows.

I'd be more forgiving towards the animation if it weren't for the large quantities of QUALITY. The art style goes from the classic Mikimoto style to this ugly shit in an instant. 0079 has limited animation too but at least the characters can keep their faces from turning ugly.

The aliens in Macross are honestly really boring.
Humans but with pointy ears, colorful hair, and they are giants.

I know they were all created by the protoculture, who are just humans but older. That is also very boring and very cliche. It's not like Star Trek where you have to deal with limitations of puppetry, makeup or costumes. It's a cartoon, you can draw whatever you want but the only regularly recurring """"""aliens"""""" are humans but with blahblah. Yeah, of course there were Protodeviln and Vajra, but they existed to shoot ships and get shot at until UNDERSTANDING happened and then fuck off and never be seen again.

Again, just a shame because from what I've seen of Frontier and 7 it just moved way too far from comfy carrier/wing commander type of stuff to, well whatever those are. Just feels like they stuck a shitton of stuff on the Valkyries in Frontier for no reason too.

Haven't checked out Delta yet, but apparently that's the same.

I don't get it. If the Robotech movie can't adapt any part of the Macross story, why are their comic books allowed to retell the story a million times using the character and mech designs? Even their Shadow Chronicles novel pretty much uses Mikamoto DYRL style Hikaru for their cover.

I hate when things do this. I get naming things after other things because they sound cool, but in a case like this, you could do that and do really cool shit with themes and designs and a whole bunch of other shit, especially when it's been done before.
