They remind me of the ugly Alliance capital ships from Star Wars Legacy of the Force, with the really stupid blades sticking out otherwise normal Mon Cal cruisers. In the new canon the Empire collapsed a lot faster that in the old EU. Because they were defeated so quickly Mon Mothma petitioned the senate for demilitarization to try to prevent a repeat of Palpatine's rise to power an a new Empire.

From what I've read they had a few captured or handed over Star Destroyers but their main fleet power is the Starhawk Battleships but most of those were destroyed along with the New Republic seat of power in Episode 7.

One of the things I liked in the old EU was that their NR eventually wised up and started building their own Super Star Destroyer sized ships. Unfortunately Disney NR seems to be even more braindead than the EU one so I doubt we'll ever see big NR warships.

Eh, the prequels were bad but that was more due to execution since Lucas is a good idea man, but kind of shit in directing and dialogue writing. At least they tried to tell a different story rather than rehashing the Original Trilogy.

Coruscant was still under the Empire's rule when the New Republic was founded. It wasn't until many months after that that the Empire finally gave up and signed for peace. At that point the Senate had already begun it's idea of "moving to different planets every so often" as it was, at that exact point in time, already on it's second home world (Chandrila to Nakadia). The Imperials that remained in the main part of the galaxy - aka those not leaving to the Unknown Regions to start the First Order - were allowed to keep whatever few planets they still held at the time of peace, Coruscant being one of them.

Pretty much. Prequels, for all their flaws did try to be original, I know there's the whole Poetry, it rhymes thing that has been turned into a meme, but I get what Lucas was trying to do, and it wasn't bad in theory. (Certain common elements shared between two different stories, I mean it's been done well before)

Don't get me wrong I don't hate TFA, but it really did rest too much on the laurels of the OT, hopefully that was just to bring people in, and then change it as time goes on, but I'm not going to hold my breath by any means.

TFA and the rest of what we're seeing in the new trilogy is quite literally Mary Sue fanfiction. It threw a random female character into the mix who is more important than everyone and everything ever in the established works, who is the key to everything, who is better than everyone at everything, and is adored by the established cast.

It actually makes Anakin having Jesus crossovers not look totally stupid, even though it was stupid.

The prequels are a victim of Lucas both explaining things that never needed to be explained, and a love of world building crashing into him remembering that everything is supposed to meet up at episode 4 and that includes the love story that results in the twins.

One is wasted and missed potential, the other is just straight up retarded fanfiction that is an unfortunate result of Disney turning every property that isn't Marvel into a Disney Princess machine.
