Treize vs Rustal is the more interesting ethical battle. Both men believe in the general mass of mankind's potential but have higher and lower standards in passion defining their beliefs.

Track record has Rustal being the far more intelligent man given he actually plans ahead unlike Treize who merely rebels out of passion like McGillis.

Treize has plans the problem is his setting whiplashes on him with mobile armors. For example he clearly built epyon with his goals in mind. Treize's plans had to be adjusted, unlike Choco his rebellion actually had the funding and backing of enough of the soldiers that he was a real force. We also need to keep in mind,that Treize took over the world for the Rommefeller foundation earlier in the series when Oz overthrew the UESA government thanks to playing the gundam pilots and a notoriously voiced general. Treize is no slouch on plans.

What interests me is if Treize is allowed to build Epyon is there anything in the IBO line up short of a Dansleif (maybe we don't have anything to compare an orbital strike to) that can brute force harm Gundanium Alloy.

On a more serious note, we don't know how good of a mastermind Rustal is because his opponent was just a retard on a power trip.

Treize maintains a solid lead for most of the fight before spontaneously deciding to allow McGillis to kill him for no apparent reason.
