I'm trying to understand the whole backstory for g reco that's pretty much skimmed over but I haven't watched the series since it aired so maybe I'm misremembering things.
So they rayhuuntons were originally from venus globe right? And they ended up on towasunga and entrusted the live of their kids to cumpa, so presumably they shared his belief that humanity has grown weak and needs to be at war. The butlers too.
So they get to towasunga and cumpa shares tech with dorette but things go awry when dorette acts too quickly and starts a military coup and takes over towasunga himself. It's a problem because cumpa still needs to head to earth and mobilise them for war
A resistance starts, the rayhuntons are involved but are killed. I'm guessing before this happens they have a change of heart over cumpa's plan because a huge space war will put their kids at risk. Maybe they arrive on towasunga a while before their children are born, get too compfy and don't realise the danger that will arise until whatever went down between the resistance and dorette.
So knowing big space war is about to kick off they design the g self and make it ridiculously overpowered to ensure the safety of their kids. Although they forgot to design it with two seats
They die, cumpa heads to earth with the aida and bellri, he ditches them and gets on with his plan by spreading tech to ameria and infiltrating capital.
The two butlers continue building the g self under the pretense that its a new unit fore the dorette fleet, but nobody knows its true power as it will only be properly activated by the rayhunton codes. Eventually they send it down to earth with raraiya.
I'm also guessing that they still maintained the belief that the war is a necessity despite wanting no harm to come to aida and bellri, hence why they hand the powerful GIT suits to ameria and also why they appear on the allied GIT/Capital ship.

I should mention the only thing thats really even partially organised is the mech design folder and again there's a lot of duplicates all over the place. You were chewing lies all this time. There is a considerable size fan community of this series, and thats is enough to Sunrise to spent some money in what is probably a compilation movie with much reused scenes, which will possibly give them more money.

Finish watching G-Reco recently.

Look the overarching plot is not impenetrable, but it is a confusing clusterfuck. However that does not excuse how the characters behave throughout the show, which at times is both retarded, childish and stupid as fuck.

I swear the only reason Bellri kept tagging along with Aida was because he wanted to get his dick wet. Which was funny when he found out that she was his sister, and then threw a tantrum by blowing up a few MSs.

It was incredible jarring to watched the characters go from killing each other in one scene to standing face to face in the next - that one elevator scene was particularly egregious. Also Manny literally betrays everyone and delivers a mobile armor to the enemy, then tries to kill Bellri. Another guy has his whole unit wiped out, Ringo is then captured but later fights with the Megafauna all because hes interested in Raraiya - forgetting the fact that people he was with are probably dead and but hey that chicks hot.

There are literately no consequences for any of these actions. It also make no sense. Klim committed a war crime by pretending to surrender only to use it as a cloak for an attack. Shit they were fighting in the middle of negotiations - nobodies ever heard of a cease fire?

The characters actions make no sense and there are practically no consequences for any actions they do make. The primary motivations of almost 50% of the cast is boils down to romantic interest - Barara, Manny, Bellri, Noredo, Ringo, Mick, Kun.

Also I can't be the only one who noticed this but I've only noticed 1 pistol throughout the entire show - not sure if it was even real cause G-IT used water balloons for bombs. How the fuck did they plan on rescuing the hostages at the beginning of the show? There's no boarding party. The only option blow the fucking BATTLESHIP apart and force the crew to surrender - the sent like 6 MSs.

Part of what you are saying can be explained by the series background,as they are a society that lived in peace, without real major wars or other kind of conflicts, for more than a century. They simply don't know how to wage a war. They don't even realize the many consequences of a war and see it more in the lines of some kind of adventure, because that is totally out of their reality. They never seem to realize the severity of the situation they are in. The white flag plan, for example, for them this is not much of a war crime, because they don't even know what constitutes a war crime, as it is a clever plan.

I can't defend the characters doing stupid things and acting in a stupid way, though. I can only say that because of it, the series delivers some fun moments that I personally liked, having this charm of a old saturday morning cartoon.

I also personally liked scenes like the one of the elevator, where enemy characters are put in the awkward position of interacting more or less politely with someone who was moments ago trying to kill them. People today generally only portrait war in this over-the-top gritty manner, and forget how bizarre and of dual nature the relations between parts, merged with rules of manners of the time, could be in old wars. I think this kind of stuff more useful to criticize war than visual brutality.

Their motivations are the people around them. They act on their emotions: love, hate, camaraderie, etc more than pure logic. Which is a thing people that do.

I think the point is that it is absurd. It's bizarre that there's a subset of people that were eaten, and because of this they're discriminated against, and everyone in this universe acts like that's perfectly normal.
