I wouldn't even have a problem with Lucky being "the guy who pep talks" if Mori let other characters get involved with anything ever instead of standing around like idiots.

Spada was in no position to be giving lessons and since no one else seemed like they had any emotional stakes in Xiao's conflict, Lucky's the easy, boring choice. It would've been way more interesting to have Raptor, Garu, or even Stinger (although they may be holding on developing him on this front) be the one who follows Xiao out instead of Lucky. Have them call Xiao out and have Lucky back them up or something.

It's just frustrating that the show is pushing Lucky as the highest and only paragon of virtue, especially when it seemed for a moment that they were pushing a hubris angle on Lucky for 0.5 seconds when he talked with Xiao.

So no more "Wish! Upon a star!"? I liked that transformation call out.

And I didn't expect ursa minor, or whatever, to show up next week already.

The whole episode is good except for that part really. As an anon said, they even set up earlier where Lucky's hubris was actually tackled on. That shit about him talking to Xiao ruins that moment and turns Lucky into some sort of mary sue of everything that he said being right and that Xiao should have believed him earlier. I agree Spada shouldn't be doing that due to his shtick previously but...

Raptor is there and she could have really done the line with her relationship with Xiao. Garu could have done the line and he's about fighting as a family. Hell, Stinger could have done the line because of his experience.

But that's it. Every character but Naga and Balance are obnoxious, boring or dumb. The fights are nothing special. Interactions between characters are terrible, they don't have time for anything because there are so many of them.

Not sure why. Is it the bombastic tone? The fursuit mentors? Who knows. I don't even like Lucky, his punch to the gut was very satisfying. I didn't have a problem with Daigo being the main character in Kyoryu, but I am worried now about it being a trend.

It's all Lucky. For four-five years now PTSD has been building towards "Autistic Attention Whore Reds and the only pressure we got was last year and even then Red still got upgrades while nobody else did. These Reds flaws will always get exaggerated until we get a really good season that either develops everyone equally or we get an actual Stoic Red again.

Zyuohger tried but in the end it was "Okay," not great and Red wasn't stoic in comparison to the ones of the past, just in comparison to all his recent counterparts.

The point is Zyuohger wasn't strong enough to break the curse that started in these threads back when Kyoryuger aired. We're still haunted by the legacy of Daigo Sentai Kingranger and the shitposting and resentment it invoked. We need something akin to Ex-Aids quality, since Emu's pretty close to Lucky in terms of being a plot blackhole but there's enough going on around him that people don't mind. In that Emu can actually emote like a human at times, while Lucky is the cancerous archtype that Toriyama popularized all those years ago with Dragonball.
