How come the ZII is actually worse than the normal Z?

This is the second time I actually regret developing an unit, the first being the Blue and Red frames.

The ZII is actually better than it should be in canon. It shouldn't be able to fly under gravity and should probably have the same attack stat as the Zeta, not a higher one. The beam rifle is supposed to be as strong as the hyper mega launcher, but at least it's stronger than Zeta's beam rifle. Either way, the ZII lacks a bio-sensor anyways, so of course it would be worse.

Powered Red isn't that bad actually. Only real problem with it is how much EN the 150-meter katana eats up. A Hyper Energy Tank and a maxed out Junk Dealer will bring it down to 19 EN though, for a 6500 power special melee that can hit three targets in a 2-4 range.

Second L is lacking in variety and loses a space in range, but it gets Trans Phase Armor and can equip a Raiser System to buff both of its attacks.

The only outright downgrade I can think of is the Crossbone X-2 Kai.

Well yeah, that's why I never use the Dark History Turn A, but still. Powered Red doesn't actually lose much in the upgrade though - goes from four attacks and a MAP attack to three attacks, but one of the four attacks was just vulcans anyways. I used to hate it too, but it's kinda nice. I like pointing out the positives in these things.

I stick with the Red Frame anyways, but that's because I prefer the standard Blue Frame, and I want them to match.

I've enable "cheats", restarted ppsspp and dropped the .ini file in a "cheats" folder in the memstick location. But when I pause with "esc" and try to select cheats there is nothing to choose from in the menu. What am I missing? Plus when I click "edit cheats" the ini file is just empty.

It's a damn shame they couldn't have more AGE content in. Overworld shipped after the series ended, surely they could have at least given AGE-1 Normal its pizza cutter.

Now that I think about it, SD G Gen 3D has more AGE content as well. The Zalam-Euba suits, the Shadoll, even that construction worker suit. I think they're missing the Farsia and Defurse though.

Garrod is the better pick for the start of the game. Free Capture makes up for the fact that you start with a slow-ass ship with a mediocre captain. Later on, you'll have a faster ship with one of the four Brights in the captain's seat, so Free Capture isn't as big a deal then.

Gato has a very good set of master skills. Use the 100% accuracy skill to compensate for the atomic bazooka's low accuracy - until you can get Gato's accuracy up to a good enough point to go without it.

GP-02 is not that good of a unit really unless you have a 100% accuracy ability for the nuke. Kills mostly everything if it hits and the MAP is good if you can (somehow) get everyone in. Doesn't hurt that the MAP doesn't affect your units

Banagher was my starter. I benched him and gave the Unicorn to Lane to develop into the Penelope instead.

Back in Wars, it did lock you into whatever series you picked, at least for pilots at first. In Overworld, your master unit just gets all of their skills from the get-go and you get a basic suit, which can be quite nice for some characters. Like Zechs, Graham, Ribbons. I was going to suggest you make a team with all three Amuros, but that inspired me to try it myself.

0079 Amuro might be the best of the three, honestly. White Devil is a fucking stupid skill that gives you +25 ATK/MOB just for piloting a Gundam, and Newtype buffs up the Forever's Funnels. I went with Delta Kai for 0087 Amuro, since it has Funnels to be buffed up by Newtype and it's a distant successor of the Z Plus, and Nu HWS for 0093 since it has more longevity than Hi-Nu.

Nightingale isn't the worst. It's definitely usable. I have Char here with Newtype (buffs funnels up by 1200), Red Comet (+25 ATK/MOB), and Ace (+1 MOV and +1 range for all weapons). Nightingale has better stats, but less variety and a lower peak than Sazabi.

Archangel/Dominion/Minerva tend to be my favorites for casual usage, but then, I'm a huge CEfag.

I also quite enjoy the Nahel Argama Kai and Ptolemaios II. Hell, you can use the Ptolemaios II and Ptolemaios II Kai at the same time if you want.

The Escape System tends to be limited to larger units. GP03 Dendrobium, the Freedom/Justice/Strike Freedom/Infinite Justice METEORs, GN Armors Type-D and Type-E, Alvatore, Halphas Bose Halberd, and Queen Amelias to be precise. In older games, the purge command wasn't a thing, and those suits had the escape system instead. In Wars, Virtue needs to be destroyed to become Nadleeh, and in World, Alvatore needs to be destroyed to become Alvaaron.

Anyways, I find it weird that the Mass Production F91 costs the same as the standard F91 and the only difference is that the MEPE attack is a dynamic kill instead of a selectable weapon - and it has a bit less HP.

The enemy's stats aren't static in hell mode. In one of the older threads, it was noticed that the enemies in one stage would sometimes average around 50, and sometimes around 110. They scale a bit to match what you have.

Man the second to last level in Hell Overworld was the most trouble I had with the game. Since it decided to copy my DX, make two copies of my Black History Turn A, God, and Full Armor ZZ. I rushed the conditions too so it was overwhelming for a minute.

So, getting started with this and being more used to SRW what should I know? There are very few complete or comprehensive guides about this serie so I just know the basics, namely that any pilot can be in any machine, that you can recruit/buy characters from a shitton of parts of the franchise and that unit destroyed are lost forever but not the pilot.

Beyond that, not sure what I'm in for after the initial stage. I've saved state at the Master Select. Any good master? I'm, at the very least, aware that each come with a downgraded version of their default unit so things like Unicorn and Exia aren't broken with all their weapons from the get go.

Lots of people recommend Ribbons but I don't know if he's available at the start. Personally I say Domon is great because Shining Gundam shits damage, and upgrades to God which shits more damage at a very high range. He's also got good skills for a pure damage build. Only downside is he's an energy hog.

Anybody with Free Capture is great to start with. Ribbons is the one recommended on the Japanese wiki (good skills, his starting 0 Gundam can become Reborns and develop into 00 Qan[T], even), but I personally think Zechs is the best (all of his skills are useful, Epyon is crazy broken, can develop into Wing Zero as well). But honestly, use whoever you like. If you need Free Capture too badly, you can just buy Garma or Sleggar.

Don't worry about your pick, just take whatever character/unit you want to play as. It'll be fine. Only thing that really puts anyone ahead is having the Free Capture skill because it makes capturing units slightly more convenient, but like the other anon said, it's not a big deal.

As you say, there's a lack of guides, so knowing how to capture stuff is probably good:
You can only capture units attached to a ship. You can press triangle on the ship and switch pages to see what units it has inside. In most cases, you will have to get close to the ship which will prompt it to launch its units during its turn. Then destroy the ship. The units will have white flags, meaning you can capture them; they also won't fight or move, so you can just leave them there until you're ready.

In most stages, a Gundam will also be attached to a ship. If you do all the break triggers and the impact trigger, you need to use your EMOTIONS to convince the Gundam pilots. Shooting down the ship that went hostile *will* let you capture the attached Gundam.

Actually capturing is done by moving your ship close to them; when there are white flag units, a "capture" command shows up in its command menu.

There are two break triggers and one impact trigger on each stage. Do as many as you feel comfortable with. They launch a bunch of new units, meaning more exp, more money, and more units to capture. If you do the second, more difficult, option on a trigger, you will also spawn "secret" units, which is a small squad of a leader and some escorts. Shooting down the leader will cause the escorts to automatically raise a white flag, allowing you to capture them.

You pick up your captured units from the War Room -> Captured menu, where you have to select "keep" to actually be able to use the unit. Selling leftover units is a good source of income.

As for what units and pilots to use: whichever you prefer, really. It's not difficult enough not to.

Each group is made up of a warship, with six crew members, two teams, with a leader and three members for each, and a master unit. Your master unit is allowed to use 1-4 special skills - you can use one per turn, and you can't use one twice in a row - you have to return them to the warship to recharge it.

Every character has one master skill by default - you unlock the rest by getting kills, with 100 kills giving you all four. The character you select as one of your free master units will have all four of their skills by default.

Free Capture is a well-loved skill because it allows you to capture every unit that can be captured at once. It's not as important a skill later on, when you have a faster ship with a good captain, but it still streamlines the act of capturing enemy units.

Nah, you can make him work. Work on getting to the regular Physalis, and you can use his 100% accuracy master skill to land the nuke in a pinch. Worst case scenario, you can go for the MLRS equipment for the GP02 as well, trading the nuke for a beam bazooka and missiles.

Honestly I don't really feel like Free Capture is even that necessary. I'd much rather have another skill in its place thats more usable. I don't mind leaving one enemy unit left at the very end of the stage while My warship goes around collecting surrendering units.

I remember getting a save with 100% unit and character profiles, except Overworld mode was not beaten. After clearing it I still had only one of her forms in the organize menu, despite the gallery showing all 3 profiles. Maybe it was a hacked save and since I don't have my own anymore I should just clear everything from start.

Nah, it's the escape system now - an entirely separate function. The Alex (Chobham Armor) can purge its armor, but if it's destroyed, it doesn't auto-purge. On the other hand, the GP03, if destroyed, will become the GP03S.

The Einerad suits can't purge at all.

I went through and checked every single unit in the game facing in all four directions and wrote down which units had issues facing in which directions and what the issues were.

Danikk went through and fixed them all, I believe, but there probably won't be a patch for a while. Something good is being worked on.
