I really hope this show doesn't go straight to shit. It does have that "average MC-kun gains a fantasy anime girl harem" thing going on, but the premise actually sounds kinda interesting and the first episode was very enjoyable. I'm also glad the main girl had a mech for at least 2 minutes. I was worried she was going to be full blown fantasy girl (which she still might be if she doesn't get the mech back, but at least she has some idea of how machines work)

They keep throwing some more /m/ stuff in here and there and the story and character interactions stay solid, this could be a very enjoyable show.

We have come to a point where regular stories don't entertain anymore, so the industry has to resort to the most outlandish premises to get your attention. This is pretty much the result of the market being over-saturated with so much shit.

It's not only a problem with anime, but with really everything else these days. When people stop consuming normal media and instead prefer watching video reactions, you know something's wrong.

Back then, people made cartoons based off real people, but generations that followed made cartoons based off the cartoons of their parents and grand parents, and so on, and not cartoons off real people, till we reached a point where anime is so far removed from real life, that the only way you could get in touch with reality is to refocus your anime on the viewers themselves, hence creating a vicious meta cycle.

It's a double edged sword. We either have that or constant retreading of the same shit/reboots and re-imaginings. Which, funny enough, actually sells when it comes to Hollywood so modern anime is almost the opposite of that, but the same beast deep down.

And at the end of the day, they're just gonna try and make what sells. And since over the top meta otaku pandering is what sells, that's what we get.

I guess my problem is that these works don't seem to belong to the creators anymore. The viewers like it, because it's about them.

Look at the Ghostbusters reboot. Why did feminists like it? Because it was about them.

I mean, this isn't new to anime, but I feel it's even more blatant now. Back in old super robot shows, you had the token kid for the young viewer to self insert but now it's literally the viewer himself / herself.

This kind of shit is too meta for me, and it falls in the same category as those mmo anime.
