Can someone please explain this franchise to me? I mean, I thought it was some eroge visual novel with giant robots, WTF is all this shit I'm hearing about Lovecraftian abomination and some super OP robot called Elder God Demonbane? Is the game worth playing?
It's an eroge visual novel with giant robots, that also happens to be heavily Lovecraft-themed.
It's a fun read. The porn is either the best or the worst part because it's really over-the-top goofy.

TTGL and Shin Mazinger were homages to Demonbane.

>TTGL and Shin Mazinger were homages to Demonbane.
Stop spreading false information
>>15408033
Sorry, I meant TTGL and Shin Mazinger Zero.

Fuck, these young western anime fans aren't familiar with a 30 year-old anime franchise with no official western release, and instead liken it to a new series very popular in the US.
How could this have happened?
>>15408041
By only watching casual popular shit and not lurking deep enough?
We're on /m/ anon, get some contrarian taste.
>>15408041
Doesn't make it less retarded, especially since they were airing around the same time

TTGL:
>a robot pilots another robot that's so big it can be seen from Earth even though they're far away, and then it grows bigger than the universe and fights another robot the same size and they throw galaxies at each other and do other crazy shit but the protagonist loses this fight in the end
Shin Mazinger Zero:
>the enemy is some sort of metafiction monstrosity representing something which means it can never be defeated, the protagonist defeats it by using metafiction powers to call on a concept which basically allows it so summon every single robot ever and they beat up the enemy together, also the guy writing this is a fucking Demonbane fan who participated in an official Kadokawa comic anthology

Neither of those are homages.
>>15408165
>A Demonbane fan made a manga with an identical ending to Kishin Hisho
>not a homage
okay retard

TTGL wasn't far away in the conventional sense. They were in a different dimension all together, Earth and Simon's cult of personality could only see each other because of some dimensional fluctuation.
It really had less to do with distance and more to do with nonsensical "physics" used to justify letting the people of Earth watch the fight.

>they copied the thing even though it made no sense in their version
