Okay so generally speaking unless you get all weird there's really no harm in still liking or watching the shit you liked growing up or is generally under your intended age group. You just admit it is what it is and accept it at that.

The rise of the Transformers. The Braves were made because Transformers were dying in the 90s, but by the end of the decade it was back up and so the Braves got knocked down. And they were dying out naturally anyway, Goldran was the highest rated and Gaogaigar had shit ratings.

Also it was probably mostly unrelated but they made two bad OVAs and while FINAL is still somehow liked by people I don't think anyone in possession of a brain actually likes the Dagwon OVA so that hurts.


As to why they died out so quickly though, I'm not sure. When Gaogaigar died they were already moving towards making Photogrizer and had ideas for things like Baan Gaan and Project Z, but axed all of them, which tells me that something REALLY went wrong. Whatever it is went full nuclear and pieces of what were Brave shows ended up all over the fucking place (Dendoh, Webdiver, Daigunder, Machine Robo Rescue, arguably Betterman, MULTIPLE video game Braves and other such things like Layzelber...).

Other places have also attributed the intervention of Bandai in the deaths of both the Brave and Eldran franchises.

Don't know exactly how much truth there is to that but the shows after... both of the Sunrise shows made following the end of the Braves (Dendoh and Machine Robo Rescue) had their toys made by Bandai whereas Takara went with other studios for Webdiver and Daigunder. From a business perspective it makes some sense to stop the studio you now own from working with your rivals.

The Saturday morning giant robot trend of the late 80s and 90s died out. There's no specific reason other than it had dominated for quite a while and entered a natural decline.

the worst the characters suffered in the original tv series was being mind controlled with one of them getting killed and three being MIA, along with Gai turned into a cyborg, which if you start thinking about it, it can be fucked up, but they didn't went there; it was just showcased as a desperate last minute option to keep him alive, with a moment of regret from his father in the first episode.
now, in Final we have

Renee gets chained up andraped by the bee dominatrix (using her stinger, no less!) It's very brief, but its explicitly what happened. For the rest of the show, Renee is clearly terrified and traumatized whenever bee lady fights her and continues to say flirty things at her.

Final made the mistake of changing GGG main subject of teamworkd and trust building into just Gai becoming a generic I CAN DO ITTT ALONEEE protagonist, even the final showdown is just everyone for themself and not working some crazy strat all together as a team

Simply put, Transformers was making more money than Yuusha ever could (Due to it having not only a strong Japanese presence, but also a generally strong international presence to the point a lot of people think Transformers is American), so they felt it was financially more feasible to rely mainly on that as their breadwinner.

It is. Takara never really had much say on the brand. The only thing Hasbro initially used was toymolds.

Story-wise and character-wise everything came from America and the Japanese borrowed molds were ditched really early on once the brand was a success. Hasbro didn't even use the original Japanese colors most of the time. New toys are designed with both parties working together. That is if Japan is designing things at all.

It's because of Gurren Lagann infecting the genre with it's toxic masculinity. There's no place for Braves which starts cute little boys, the ideal male body.
