I dunno I kind of like it.

It looks a bit clumsy and even a little jury-rigged which fits the Nirvash in the beginning of the series, and maybe when it upgrades to its eventual later forms it gets more streamlined.

Well this is very...interesting?
It;s certainly a bit of a departure from Kawamori's design, but it's only the prototype version of the nirvash.
We'll probably see the proper version at the end of this movie or during the second.

Wait, is this a completely redesigned Nirvash to replace the spec-1 as a retcon? Or is it just the Nirvash Eureka was using in testing or the S.O.F? Because we already saw both of those. While I do think they look a little too human for standard archetype body-shapes, I think this represents a perfectly fine stage for early, non-transforming robots. I think the hook on the back is where the ref-wing shown in the trailer detaches from, so these units are used like paratroops.

I'm not sure if they're going to retcon the "Nirvash is the first archetype dug up", if they're going to have put it's construction into an LFO put on hold while they develop more primitive machines, or if the non-reffing robots are going to be a cheaper/simpler but simultaneous/later construction. In any case, I'm interested in seeing the backstory behind the civil war.

They might be some sort of rollbars? Also after looking at it again the bars on either side of the cockpit AND that perforated plate behind the back rollbar really make sure it look like it's only got one cockpit canopy. Is the new canon going to just be Eureka grinding on Renton instead of having two cockpits? Because I'm surprisingly ok with that, excluding the whole "Nirvash is unique because 2 cockpits" thing getting dropped.

Looks neat. I liked E7 when I caught up with a few years ago. I'll be at least somewhat happy if it's better than AO. If it wasn't tied to a show I did like, AO wouldn't have had very much going for it.
