00 has generally been considered pretty good ever since it finished but with a downward trend after S1 due deciding to play more safe after being more experimental then the Gundam Norm, both in MS designs and plot, with the general schism being if TRAILBLAZER was good since it involved AYYS and was basically MISSION: SURVIVE for the majority of it.

The bitching about the IBO ending completely eclipses the bitching about ending of ANY of the 00 entries, as did the SEED Destiny ending where the hate is still continuing like a decade after the fact

Then there is AGE where people had lost interest so hard it basically ended with a whimper.

Comparatively, S1 basically only had CB have beam weaponry for the majority of it, and even then Exia, the "Main Suit" primarily used the GN Sword and the Kyrios was a bit more missile focused and teh beam guns were just back up weapons, That basically means that the only ones that "spammed" were Dynames and Virtue, and Virue gets downgraded to Nadleeh

S2 did go into full on beamspam territory though.

Dynames Torpedo, Virtue Physical and Nadleeh Akwos were the last three in that line.

Torpedo's just Dynames with a big gun that shoots torpedoes for shooting underwater targets. It gets some goggles and a sonar dish too.

Virtue Physical is what Virtue would have looked like before they managed to stuff enough GN Condensers in the armor for it to be able to use a lot of beam guns. Brown instead of white, and it carries a bunch of missiles and bazookas instead of its normal weapons.

Nadleeh Akwos sticks a bit of centurion-themed armor on Nadleeh with a sword that has a giant Gundam face on it. It's meant to improve the Trial System, but since Trial was only used literally twice in the whole show and it didn't even work the first time, it wound up pointless to actually use it instead of Virtue.

I didn't like it originally but I love it now, especially after seeing it a second time and picking up on all the hints/easter eggs that would later pay off. There were flaws here and there but nothing major enough to affect the narrative consistency as a whole and my overall enjoyment.

Catching up (slowly) on IBO, I find myself missing 00. That show tried for an even perspective where the 'heroes' were just as dubious as the antagonists, but it actually worked there because most of the people on both sides were likeable and engaging and you wanted things to work out well for them. By contrast, even if I have no problems with any of IBO's technical storytelling aspects, I just can't invest in it because these people are all twats and I don't give a shit about them, and anyone who isn't or who has any more endearing traits either dies or is largely irrelevant. Then there's the contrast of child soldiers between Setsuna and MIkazuki, the former of whom was clearly in the process of a personal journey throughout the series, and the latter of whom would appear to be just dead inside. I feel like he could have been replaced with a mobile doll without changing the plot in any significant way, he's clearly a lost cause.

I miss Setsuna. He was a traumatized stoic, yet still he had more life in him than Mika.

00 is one of the worst Gundam shows ever.

What saves it from being Unicorn-Seed level mess is that creators seemed to actually put effort in the world-building.
Most of characters don't get proper development, storylines appear out of nowhere and disappear into oblivion without any concupiscence to the "main plot", which itself was ruined by that garbage-fire of the movie.

People tend to like because of its good moments (and there are some pretty good moments here and there), but for some reason choose to ignore bullshit like 2nd Lockon out of nowhere in S2 (huh, with all that stuff about his family in S1, you think this little detail about his identical brother would come up, but nope!).

And Saji... holy shit. Was there a worse Gundam character than Saji?
I'd rather watch 26 episodes of Kira's bland stare into camera than watch another minute of this cunt.

Nena was delegated to bitch status because she had no further ability to do anything in the story and everyone knew that. Sergei was never really an enemy pilot or even honestly set or implicated as an antagonist, and both And Graham was used as Setsuna's rival like he was in season 1 while Ali went around being the enforcer for Ribbons.

They were fine in this regard.

Only issue I have is Wang was clearly a character the writers and Mizushima were unsure how to use or utilize in season 2.

To me they were severely underutilized in comparison with S1.

Ali flights the 00R but loses and retreats, then fights the Cherudim, the Arche is powered down he escapes and dies trying to pull a fast one on Lockon II.

Patrick has less presence and only pipe dreams of doing something relevant like in S1.

Setsuna doesn't even acknowledge Graham anymore who fights him 3 times but jobs in the end, you can write him out of the plot and nothing would have changed.

Sergei doesn't do much because he isn't part of discount Titans but participates in the Occupy Space Elevator Movement which goes tits up and gets killed by his cuck son.

I know they shouldn't rely on them to push yet another season, but coupled with how uninteresting the Innovades are, I can't help but feel incredibly disappointed in S2.

Also he retreated in the fight where he was completely dominating Setsuna and Tieria because he knew even he couldn't take on all four Gundam Meisters at the same time.

Because Graham/Bushido could've killed him after the first time Setsuna overuses the Twin GN Drives on the 00 Gundam. They fight a second time that ends a stalemate and the third time Setsuna is the one who acknowledges that like himself, Bushido has to move on so I disagree there.

Was fine. Visibly shown to be disgruntled and chaffing under the A-Laws high handed ruling over the rest of the EFF military and built up to be a rebel force that triggers a breakway monumentum with the EFF against the A-Laws and Innovades.

And I liked the Skittles Squadron. My issue was besides Hillings, Anew, and Revive, the only three that were explored in any sort of depth besides Ribbons and Regene, the rest were throwaway fodder and elite mooks.

Just finished S1, starting S2

The whole time I'm watching S1 I was thinking "am I supposed to actually like these people?"

S2 starts, I'm two episodes in, and Setsuna actually says something along the lines of "we got what we wanted but it's bad, so WE have to fix it" and all I can think is "STOP MOTHERFUCKER, YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS, JUST GO HOME."
