Psyco zaku is just a high mobility zaku with an experimental control system and backpack full of guns, the sub arms are just sub arms, nothing too fancy
FA gundam may look loaded but it's still rather basic, a bunch of guns, shields, missles, armor purge, sub arms, it just has them all at once.
I feel like this is the same mentality with bayformers, wow it's full of greeble, that means it's really advanced, no it's not.

The whole point is that the Psycho Zaku is really powerful. Technically, any Suit with the Reuse P device could fit the bill, but Daryl's prosthetics are only really suited for the Psycho Zaku.

Without it, he can't be fixed, ever. It's the Psycho Zaku or nothing. (Though a Psycho Gelgoog would rock ass.)

I thought so too. Hickhan was expressong doubts about NTs existing, and used his own experience with the Psycommu Zaku as an example. Then again, maybe he meant average as relative to the Flanagan Institute and relatively weal Newtypes like Challia Bull, who don't exhibitb the fine degree of control like Darryl in the Psycho Zaku? It could just mean that he is one of many weak Newtypes that simply aren't on the level of Lala or Amuro, so they feel as if Zeon's contolism is just a load of bogus.
