>>15370662
Bitches never even gassed a colony and fell apart like straw dolls. Worst design ever.
>>15370668
Only cool or even functional when modified by an "Ace" pilot.
Inccorect, best grunt is the Genoace.
>Easy to pilot
>Easy and cheap to mass produce.
>Beam weaponry capable from the get-go.
>Saw many upgrades and customizations over the years.
>Was in active service for over 50 years.
>Many pilots actually preffered it over the newer Adelle series despite the Adelle having superior performance.
>Killer of not!newtypes.
Its only flaw is being from AGE.
The zaku 2.
>>15370687
>AGE
One Drop Rule
It is out of the running.
>>15370695
Outperformed by the Hi-Zack. I'd say 3rd best.
Hi-Zack: 5

Off to Calculus class. I declare victory. Ya'll losers!

Come on, Genoace is just an AU Jegan.
>>15370651
Hi-Zack did spawn the civilian model Hobby Hi-Zack it is a testament to how easy it was to operate.

Hizack was a shoddy pos churned out by AE using leftover zeonic tech for a quick profit and had to supplement its weapon choice with old and outdated zaku II equipment. The thing was outperformed by pretty much everything else the EFF and titans were using and by zeta was already on its way out the door.
Your favorite grunt was a quick cash grab by one of the worst groups in UC looking to break into MS manufacturing.
>>15370818
>Anaheim Electronics
>HI Zack
What the fuck are you smoking it was a in house Titans mobile suit. Internally it also combined also some aspects from the GM line.
>>15370651
I think this thread is full of fair answers all of which I can respect and appreciate.
actually the Graze et al
Your beam weapons do nothing
>>15370902
Hizack was retconned into a mobile suit developed and manufactured by Anaheim Electronics about a decade and a half ago.
...which kind of makes sense, given Anaheim absorbed Zeonic and might put out such a design, not the Feds or Titans.
The UNE had some really fucking nice designs.
>>15370818
>one of the worst groups in UC
And in the end, Anaheim sponsored the League Militaire. Ain't that some shit?
>>15371345
>implying your gimmick armor is enough against a better gimmick weapon and gimmick shield
Beam Shields > Ballistic weapons and shitty solid swords
RGM 3.Unless you can count the Jesta but so few were built I don't think it counts.
I think we can all agree that it is NOT the Nemo
Stand aside, plebeians!

I have a weak spot for nazi-zaku.
>>15371345
>WE ARE PERSISTANT AND FORTITUDINOUS
Geara Doga, that extra bulky mono-eye grunt just gets me.
>>15373015
This. It pulls both the intimidating bulky aesthetic perfectly and it the does nazi aesthetic perfectly without going overboard like >>15372549
>>15370902
According to modern materials it was developed by AE as their first mass production model and was produced at a Titans base, which is pretty typical for military contractors.
>>15371847
I prefer the ground version
>>15371727
Was Anaheim even relevant by Victory?
I thought their influence took a nose dive after the Federation got its own inhouse R&D group by F91 or something like that.
>>15371598
>>15373032
And then they will fart out some new retcon god knows when also pretty funny they forgot they had control of well fucking Pezun.
>>15373015
Really? I think it's the four dildos that get you, hur hur hur.
Sorry, I had to. It was a low-hanging fruit.
I am in favour of the Gelgoog mass production type. MS-14, or 14A, was it again? Regardless, it looks the part of a last-minute attempt to unsuccesfully bridge the sudden technology gap. The last mantlepiece of a dying empire.
>>15373095
SNRI went bankrupt and closed shop by the events of victory.
AE was still around in a reduced roe and is rumored to have been supporting the League Militaire with its MS development.
>>15373099
>>15371598
>>15370902
Well, let's not forget that the Federation produced the Act Zaku for their own use. And built an improved Galbaldy as well. And then there's the Zaku Mariner.
>>15373121
>SNRI went bankrupt and closed shop by the events of victory
thats not even close to what happened to SNRI in Victory.
>>15373112
>it looks the part of a last-minute attempt to unsuccessfully bridge the sudden technology gap
>Unsuccessfully
It had performance on par or even better than the EF's gundam and it completely shat on the original GM. It's failure was that by the time it was out it was already too late and Zeon was running low on capable pilots, having to throw newbies with next to no training into them just to fill cockpits.
>>15373135
Sorry, let me specify further. SNRI closed. A former branch of SNRI on side 2 reopened as BESPA and started making MS for Zanscar.
>>15373135
Only part of SNRI became BESPA.
The other part of SNRI was supporting Crossbone Vanguard and got wrecked by the ying yang twins from the Jupiter Empire.

>>15373136
The suit attempted to reach Gundam's performance and came close to it, but at the cost of excessive size and lesser internal functions such as vulcans, sabers or the last-minute magnetic coating. Furthermore, at this point of the war, the Gundam was far from the most powerful suit in the Federation arsenal - it was rather just a very good mobile suit piloted by an unnatural pilot. A closer Gundam-equivalent would be the Action Zaku, fed into the fiction far later.
Of course, I do accept it for a fact that the Gelgoog was not the pinnacle of Zeon tech either, just the pinnacle of their mass-produced forces. I would posit the Kampfer and the NT-1 at the top of each food chain.
>>15373269
I would personally put the Gelgoog J above the Kamfer, but the Kamfer aint that far below it
>>15370706
>Shitting on Genoace
Say that to my face motherfucker!
>>15370651
I'd say the best runt award goes to GN-X.
>>15371734
In the millennia hence, mobile suit gimmicks have evolved beyond your comprehension.
>>15373269
Remind me, what did they have that was better than the Gundam? I know it exists but due to circumstances my brain is full of a thousand GM variants.
>>15373544
IIRC, greater thruster output. Makes sense, since it follows the Rick Dom philosophy of "give it a fat ass and bell bottoms and stuff them with rockets"
>Certified Gundam-Killer
>Extremely dangerous in packs
>Later models such as the GN-XIV are capable of TRANS-AM
GN-X superior, all others inferior
best? debatable
best aesthetic? you fucking bet
>>15373662
Jesta wasn't a grunt ms. It was a limited run ms meant for ace pilots and special forces.
>>15373544
Zeon? Kampfer's speciality appears to be sheer speed and explosive firepower. For EFSF, NT-1 was supposedly a violently powerful, outright runaway overspecced upgrade of the project V Gundam.
As far as I know, Gundam was way ahead from the Zaku II's it faced, and that standard Gelgoogs finally matched it - but they were mass production suits, rather than the snowflake gundum. So the unique or special suits that appeared t the end of the war on both sides were then - again supposedly - Gundam+. But without the massive advantage of a newtype ace.
Now that I started ruminating, there's Gundam Pixie, then there's my favourite family the Ground Gundams that while initially inferior, lead to the Blue Destiny units, of which 2 and 3 seem above Gundam. Then there's the whole gaggle of Project V 2nd Lot that came out after RX-78-2; GP04, GP05, Pale Rider spawned from GP05 and apparently the Blue Destiny projects, and finally a particularily popular variant; the Mudrock Gundam. Then there's GM Sniper Custom II that can... well, narrowly compete with the Gundam, and then there are the varied suits that fill other roles but have similar potential - the Full Armor suits, the Heavy Gundam, the varied Cannon types... it's a long and spotty list.
>>15373496
Grazes would get slaughtered against Den'an Zons
>>15373095
Well, they were responsible for the Heavygun, G-Cannon, Guntank R-44, Jamesgun, Javelin. Basically all of the Federation's mobile suit production was still contracted through Anaheim.
It's often said that SNRI completely overtook AE, but in reality, SNRI only really made the Loto, F90, F91, Crossbones, Flint, and Record Breaker.
>>15374005
We might have new material ahead of us from either source as the Unicorn era is extrapolated upon.
>>15370651
Leo is the best looking grunt hands down. Actually most of the Wing grunts are the best looking in the franchise.
Zaku I is also pretty cool, I wish it got more love.
>>15375059
Brother?
Hizack = a synthesis of Fed and Zeon tech.
IBO Shiden = versatile general purpose frame
Jegan = longest running model in UC.
>Hyper-specialized in niche functions.
>Utterly useless in any other situation.
I'm also the kind of dork who'd dress-up as a knight, so yeah.

What's goin' on in this thread?
>Best grunt suit thread
>No Javelin
I'm disappointed, /m/. By the time of Victory, the Javelin has a service record almost as long as the Jegan's, but unlike the Jegan, it can still take on some of the best that Zanscare can throw at them.
>>15375410
Do you blame us for forgetting? There's almost no art of it. Does it have a model kit, even?
Astrays are probably the only good grunt MS CE ever produced. Even if they got ruined by sidestory manga with special snowflake customs.
>>15375293
>>15375298
Hi Sazaki. How's your sister?
>>15375445
It and the Jamesgun have old timey 1/144 kits. That's about it.

>>15373015
the fact that many of these posts are hi-zack/geara doga votes, just goes to show how influential the original Zaku design was.

Hi zac is best zaku
>>15371834
Why does it look cool as cover art but not in anime
>>15376573
Because it looked dumpy in Zeta animation and jobbed in Unicorn.
>>15375313
This, ReZEL is love.
Shame it jobbed so hard in general.
>>15375298
No need to be ashamed, Gyan-kun, we understand.
>>15373129
Those were all designs that had existed on paper by that point, though. Hizack was a new model entirely
