Assuming KRC is just, defeat the R-players and the Bugster bosses to get stronger until you are the last one, what will you try to do to survive the most?

i will probably die day 1, but i at least would try to do some heroing:

The first one implies that Emu still wanted to be a doctor before he was infected by Dan. The infection made him develop a bugster, who eventually took over his conscience. He dropped his dream of becoming a doctor and just wanted to be a gamer. After his operation by Dr. Pacman, part of the virus was released, which deactivated the bugster personality and Emu took control of his body completely.

The second one implies that Emu dropped his dream of becoming a doctor before he was infected by Dan. The virus was kept inactive in his body and didn't affect Emu at all. When Dr. Pacman operated on him, the release of the virus activated the bugster personality during the operation and the visions of the surgery made the bugster personality acquire the dream of becoming a doctor, just like how Emu as a little kid wanted to become a doctor after he was saved.
It really depends on what the writer has in his mind at this point. The second one makes much more sense though. A contagious virus' main purpose is to contaminate and infect other organisms. Doing so does not deactivate itself nor lessen its strength. A lot of viruses do not show symptoms once they have developed enough in order to contaminate. I don't know if viruses can be forced to contaminate, but that seems to be what happened during his second operation (by Dr. Pacman).

Considering the writer likes his show to be dark and not happy-dovey, I think he wouldn't be against having the bugster as the more ideal personality (in society's and others' views). It would be a great plot point in the last arc.

I'd put bombs in shopping malls and then activate them after transforming. Though I'd first check out my powers to see the pros and cons. But essentially, I'd go with mass killings to secure that officials would focus defenses on crowded places. Kenzaki by random chance happened to have a high enough fusion rate that he became a joker undead, and if the end of the series is any indication, two joker undeads will eventually fight if near each other.
Now, the chance of that level of fusion could be one in a million, but on the other side, it could be one in four for all we know.
