i wish i could say too much time was spent showing ep 4's A Baoa Qu sequence all over again but i enjoyed it all over again anyways.

i like bianca carlyle, she seems cool and cute, still don't dig the figma gundam but seeing it move was nice, except for those ski boosters, never will like those as a thing.

I think so, I doubt Sunrise expected to make a sequel. I don't know which studio is doing this and which ones are doing IBO, Twilight Axis, and The Origin 5 & 6, but Sunrise hasn't had a good looking, well-budgeted series since G-Reco and before that not since 00 (and I'm also talking about non-Gundam anime, look at any of their recent releases not from LL and you'll see what I mean). Their budget seems to be stretched really thin these days and I just wish they'd invest more into Gundam than LL.

Really good. Action and music was sweet as fuck. Bianca's a fantastic girl and I hear she's gonna have a thing with Cornelius, who she had a pretty cute conversation with this episode. Although I'm confident they'll fuck that up in the worst way possible, it's fine, the music and mecha combat is still very good and Io's back to raise some hell.

Maybe they should cut back a bit on the amount of Gundam, allowing them to focus more on quality? We have Origin, Thunderbolt, Twilight Axis, vanilla-Build Fighters OVA, G-Reco compilation movie and whatever happens with IBO after episode 50 coming. Hell, IBO looked like they didn't have much of a budget despite being an attempt at a new flagship entry. It's like they want quantity over quality right now.

Last time we had a series that it felt they put some effort in was G-Reco and the first Build Fighters, every single thing since then including the Origin, Try, IBO etc. have been cheap soulless cash grabs.

Remember that the last set of ONA looked pretty janky too, the movie cleaned them up a bit. Although I don't remember the battles in S1 looking so janky, it really wasn't worth wasting resources on the A Boa Qu stuff at the beginning.

The problem is that it's following the manga too closely, what works well for a single volume doesn't translate particularly well to animated format. Without a narrative flow it's just a bunch of random scenes, god knows what anime only viewers are thinking.

IBO at its worst is the space arc of S1, where it's just dragging its feet focusing on the least interesting aspect of IBO; the characters namely Kudelia. At worst its really, really boring.

The animation noticeably worse but it's not horrible.

A common complaint of the first Thunderbolt ONAs was that the director decided to overlook almost any pretense of doing plot and just put concentrated eye candy on-screen. Mecha pornography, in other words.

That shit flies with shorts, but a longer episode kinda demands for more development, especially in an adaptation. The episode mixed and matched plenty of things from the manga, rushing some important scenes (like the Zeon engineer being rescued by the Buddhists) or just skipping stuff altogether (like the sequence with Io back on Mua [how fast can they build O'Neill cylinders in the UC, anyway?!]).

Something tells me that the director is only good at animating. Doing anything with plot is beyond his abilities.

I finished it right now. I really liked some specific scenes, mainly the fighting ones, like the chaotic and full of debris Battle of A Baoa Qu, and the core fighters and dopps dog fight. I also still liked the way which they adapted the OVA visual to be more aesthetically close to the original series, which already comes from the first batch of Thunderbolt OVAs.

The problems are that the scenes where the animation is poorer or less polished are more apparent, like Daryl walking in the beach, and the pace is really like this anon >>15353795 said. Sequences simply wildly jump from one place to another, as if the responsible for editing it was a epileptic frog on drugs.

Well technically that was something fundamental to the original Mobile Suit Gundam; The reason we fell back on WWII Naval and Infantry tactics WITH GIANT ROBOTS is because Minovsky Particles fucked with Electromagnetic Waves, screwing with Radar and other long range targeting systems.

I do like that they made use of the compact nature of the Core Fighters to use them as a parasitic Fighter Escort though.
