This isn't late UC yet. If anything it's mid-era UC, this is still but a few years after CCA and not even as late as Hathaway's Flash. Late UC tends to refer to the era of small scale MS.

Beam shields are brand new tech in F91, so it'd be unlikely this has them. They could very well be nothing, or they could be not shown yet as being weapon pods. Who knows?

I don't quite remember why, but they had made a deal to hand it over the key to the Sleeves/Full Frontal to see what'll happen - most likely just an escalation of the Spacenoid - Earth conflict if Full Frontal had used it as a rallying point for the colonies and the Zeon cause. Banagher, understanding both points of view, released it as it was to everyone to let them make their own choices.
It's the Char/Amuro dichotomy all over again - Char wants to force humanity into Space with the asteroid, Frontal wants to use the charter as a reason for Spacenoid supremacy and isolate the Earth sphere. This is definitely another UC merchandise reboot just like Unicorn. It is another top quality OVA animation wise but with no real conflict story but just to sell UC toys.

Laplace Box incident, Axis investigation. When do minor conflict get OVAs? Delaz Conflict was pretty substantial as the first remnant uprising, but I think UC Gundam is now super notorious for infinite Zeon uprisings regardless of delivery medium now.

With this Sunrise in house publication company Yatate Bunko and the prompt animation adaptation of their first novel, they are trying to show that Kadokawa side stories have a lower standing than their in house publishing company.

Similar to how Disney recognises filmed works and new comics for Star Wars while brushing off every side story prior as Legends.

Of course, Surnise hasn't written anything new that directly contradicts any of the major side stories done in Kadokawa Gundam Ace.
