I Really liked it.
I feel as if unicorn was where Tomino if he could go back in time and do it all again is where UC would have ended. I am not saying F91 and Crossbone weren't worthwhile stories or even potentially better than Unicorn. But Unicorn is clearly an ending, and I feel its a dam good one.

The novel was better purely because it lacked the Neo Zeong. It jumped the gun hard with it as well as the Unicorn handwaving suits away.

I loved the first few Unicorn OVA (shit my pants at the Destroy mode reveal, which I hadn't had spoiled).
Mostly hated the last 1/3 or so to the end. Too much glowey crystal energy shit.

I was psyched to see the Banshee, but by the end it didn't make much sense to me (trying to remember the story now)....

Unicorn was much more offensive than Stardust in how it was put together. Stardust is pure mecha porn with schadenfreude topping.

I enjoyed it too. But while I loved the time travel scene in the last episode, I thought the reveal and the ending were a bit disappointing, the banshee and the unicorn trying to stop the colony laser was also a bit too super robot for Gundam.
But I liked it overall.
Also Marida deserved a happy ending.

Up till the final episode he was a regular politician made to look like Char to be a figurehead.

In the final episode because he looked like Char he became a vessel which accepted the literal spirit of Char and started to do what Char wanted.

I feel the complete opposite. I don't think there's any way Tomino at any point could have done anything like Unicorn. It's far too coherent and too idealistic as a show to be anything like what he does, which tends to be for better or for worse very eccentric.

It's clearly a show made by UC fanboys doing their best to make something that UC fanboys want. As a UC fanboy this is something that I personally welcome, but I see why others don't.

A lot of people seem to hate the time travel sequence and brush it off as fanservice. While I do believe it does pander to UC fanboys like myself I think it makes sense with what Amuro and Lalah said back in the 0079.

I like the OP1 it seems really whimsical

but the OP2 is pure sex, starts with electric guitar and just ramps up with GP01fb and then Gelgoogs and the massed ranks of the Zeon remnants with the backdrop of the colony
