**MELEE GROUP BUILD**

Build/paint a Mobile Suit with a loadout focused on melee combat! Anything from shields to swords to lances to axes to bare fists is fair game. There's no room for ranged weaponry here, however, so anything resembling a rifle, rocket launcher, cannon, pistol, or any other ranged weapon is a no-go (Small ranged weapons that are built into the kit itself like head vulcans are ok, however).

Had the Grimgerde on backlog for a while now. Decided to forego kitbashing it with stuff I can't afford ATM and just painting it metallic green with gold trimmings, and turned one of it's swords into a spear because spear > sword.

So close to finishing my RX-78. I decided to wait to do the back of the shield when my enamel wash gets here. The rest of the paneling was done with a GM21 Gundam Marker. Still trying to decide what to use for the face vents though.

In the meantime I've started on my Gouf prototype. It's a lot more complex a kit, but fuck if he doesn't look gorgeous with all of those fancy decals. Even if applying them has so far been a nightmare.

I bought a craftmate paint pen in lieu of my Gundam Markers which should be arriving a thousand years from now.

I guess it goes without saying that if you use a pen, on close inspection you can see the strokes? I had trouble getting the paint to come out like I wanted to, not super confident using it to detail stuff on an MG.

We got the GM Sniper II back in January, Providence just came out this week, and the Justice probably won't be out until June/July. Not to mention we have a ZZ Ver. Ka in December. There's still room for 1-2 more regular release MGs in there.

So I didn't mention before but my Grimgerde was part of a trio of birthday presents from my brother along with Gusion Rebake Full City (Gotta get some option sets to properly arm it still), and AGE-3 Fortress, which I just finished this morning, and decided to take a pic with all three for the hell of it.

Despite owning a PG 00 Raiser and thus knowing all of its faults, I actually would be okay if Bandai reuses the frame for a PG 00 Quanta.
It does mean Quanta would inherit many of those faults, but at least it would be somewhat new.

Having a GN Drive instead of nothing in the gaping chest cavity would probably help in terms of sturdiness, too.

A kit I was thinking of appearantly had some built in weapons that are slightly larger than that (think of it as larger head vulcans but not in the head). What about that? I didn't even realize it had it when I considered the kit.

If these things disqualify it I'll probably build and paint it anyway since the idea of a groupbuild at least made me think of a colour scheme.

It's more color-correct than the Atmosphere Flight pack, includes the parts needed to make the "Vanilla" G-Self (just some shoulder and sideskirt pieces), and comes with stickers for the shoulder thrusters that the first G-Self kit lacks. Tonight instead of working on painting my hlj entry, I modded the valvrave effect parts to fit into square peg beam saber handles.

I'm quit happy with the result. No idea what to do to the main body though, I might just detail it a little with some new panels and stuff. I actually quite like the Raphael base body as is.

They're not like the kind of markers like you use on paper, the tips are a semi-hard plastic dispenser that the paint flows through in (ideally) small amounts. The tips are terrible for anything but small areas, but not fine enough for fine details.
They're basically plastic tubes of pre-thinned, pre-mixed paint with a fancy dispenser tip. Using a brush doesn't "defeat the purpose" of anything.

My process for getting rid of nubs is using exacto knife at an angle to get the nab flat, then use various grits of sandpaper till it's completely smooth.

But I still have the white of the nub. Is this normal or should I work at it till there is no white? What do you guys do to get rid of them?

HGUC F91 is fine, it just has a lot of details you need to paint. Worst I can say is that it has the standard HGUC All Gundam issue where the waist polycap is way too loose.

MG F91 is also fine, because unlike the Crossbone the F91's weapons don't require really dynamic posing to look nice. The only real problem is that again you need to do some detail painting (though not nearly as much as with MG Crossbone) and that the lack of polycaps means you need to be a bit more careful that you don't break anything.
