I'd agree with you personally, because they all just come off as pale imitations. That said though, I do think Graham Aker was good in season one, when he wasn't really a Char clone in anything but the broadest sense (i.e. he's a blond antagonist), because he was actually his own character at that point, with interesting history that informed his actions (dead comrades inspiring increasingly desperate action).

Honestly, none of them are really Char. Schwartz is Racer X at the end of the day. Master Asia is your classic student over coming master story. He's never someone you would honestly say yeah Master Asia is the rival pilot from G. The Shuffle Alliance are Domon's rivals despite them being his friends. Ulbe, well while be is there, he really lacks the flair a Char should have.
