Was going to be a gritty adult take on Sentai, actually that's a lie but it was gonna be as adult as it could be in the time slot it was given.

Unless that nude photobook tell all thing is true, it might just be assumptions. I think like Bioyellows departure it wasn't ever really stated officially why she left for a long time, so considering her fight scenes got shorter and shorter in BFJ until she was replaced it might just be wishful thinking.

Starts attempting to be serious but you probably already know why has to drop that element. It takes a long while to find its footing, arguably up till the 30s where it starts getting way better, with a mini arc that IIRC was 19-20 that's kinda...interesting let's say.
The issue is that not much happens plot wise during that stretch of time and the characters also suffer as they don't get much characterization, if any. Maybe Green and Blue are kind of the best and out of the 20+ shows I've seen(yes, including Ninninger) the Red is the worst. Sixth is the very definition of meh(if you ignore the suit), and pink and yellow have some decent focus episodes but not much outside that.
As said though, it gets much better around the 30s (specially if you love power play between villains, which I do) and it has a few good moments between the tone change and the 30s so I still consider it at the very least worth watching(then again, I liked all sentai I've watched and I think there's something good about all of them) so if you have the time and you've already watched most of everything else, go for it.

Depends what you are looking for. You want a standout go Shinkenger or Go Buster. You want a Jap comedy go Carranger or Go Onger. You want old stuff that's still good go Maskman or Sun Vulcan. You want something newer then that but not that old go Jetman or Dairanger. If you want it explicitly the 90s but still good go GoGoV or Megaranger (CONTROVERSIAL)

Most people jumping into Sentai from PR don't realize the hoops Saban went through to turn Megaranger into In Space

As most seasons are straight adaptations, along with In Space being hailed as one of the best PR seasons, Megaranger leaves a sour taste in their mouths

Its the same issue with Gingaman and Lost Galaxy

As in PR they are the climax and epilogue to a 6 year story, Mega and Ginga are your usual Sentai

The only good parts were Nossan and Utchy. The other characters were one dimensional and had no draw. Daigo was literally perfect. Souji has no purpose until he got the sword upgrade. Ian was forgettable and only said "OH MY". Amy's schtick was that she kicked things and said "WOW".

They're understandable, but I wouldn't call them good by any stretch. The fact that they aren't translated directly from Japanese is already a problem in and of itself.

As for the subtitles themselves, there's some noticeable issues with spelling but nothing too major. The biggest problems I have personally is that the releases are hardsubbed with some typesetting decisions that are, frankly, bad.

I think the video quality is also kind of borked in comparison to the raws, but that's probably due to the conversion from MKV to MP4/M4V.
