I still think it's a lie and it's meant to surprise us. That first teaser had to have meant something.

LWA is a big meme on /a/ because they felt that they NEEDED to push the fact that it was good because they funded the kickstarter for the first ones. If they admitted that it was mediocre, like the OVAs very much were, then it wouldn't get such a massive cult following SPECIFICALLY only on /a/ and thus also fansubs.
Granted, now that Trigger, the crappy studio they are, have more than 20 minutes to spend on the characters the tv series of LWA is actually quite solid, it never would have gotten any fansubs or any attention had /a/ not gotten involved in the beginning and felt and obligation to wank over it for the sake of board culture.

Which brings me to my point - there won't be any groups to sub ID-0 because there's no reason to.

Look at what happened with Kuromukuro; after gg dropped it it didn't get subs for weeks until others stepped up to the plate - but only after it had already developed a following on /a/ and a smaller one on /m/ plagued by a shitposter. I just don't see it happening with ID-0, I don't see who could be willing to sub it.
