***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

The MG you mean, right? All the other weapons are from 08th MS Team kits, the only new bits are the shield and the head camera, if that's what you're looking for from the kit.

MG, yep. I didn't order the WD for the extra stuff, I just didn't like the swappable fingers on the standard.

Since the White Dingo had the fun hands I dropped a little extra.

My top edge Gourai is done. First thing I did after taking my photos was get her a base, even though I tightened the joint in her belly/abdomen it was really tricky to pose her without her upper body falling backwards and looking awkward.

Next time I'll add less shit to the back and shoulders.

I'm happy with the evenness of the lacquer coat but I hate how the hand painting turned out my thinning attempts didn't pan out to well. still have panel lining, decals, and topcoat to do and I'm unsure if I should matte or gloss. Any criticism is welcome.
>>
>>15337519
Are the groupbuilds made by a Bandai Pr to make us buy more kits?
>>
>>15337671
Yes, Bandai is that desperate for the sales of the dozen or so people who enter that they pay a guy to shill a contest on a niche robot board's model kit thread.
>>
>>15337681
be sarcastic all you want. The Gunplalluminati is making tools of us all.
>>
>>15337474
Top coated my MG Char's Zaku yesterday. However, while it was drying some faggots went over to my patio and messed with it. I came back home after grabbing some lunch and found it knocked over with the command spike snapped in two. I doubt it was the wind since it was very low to the ground and I've left other kits out there without issue. I live by a sports facility and there was a lot of foot traffic due to a game. I've seen the ticket scalpers that walk around in front of my building creeping on people's patio's before so I have a feeling some stupid nigger came up and touched something he shouldn't have. Pisses me off.

Fortunately, I have a regular Zaku II as well so I'll just paint the spike that comes with that kit and call it done. Still, really pisses me off, shouldn't have gone with a first floor apartment. Next time I catch them snooping around my patio I'll come out with my AR strapped up.
>>
>>15337519
I voted for tacticool because I'm also a /k/ommando. The 14th Gundam Fight theme would be something I'd be down for too.

Now why would I do that?

The real reason why I'm doing these is because it's encouraging people to post/critique each other's builds more as well as getting people to try things like scratchbuilding/painting for the first time. Basically just to get people building/posting more.

>>
>>15338078
For tank kits your choices are:

>Good
>with no/minimal glue

Pick one and only one.

In the military modeling world snap fit kits are seen as baby tier stuff for kids and are typically cheap and low quality.
>>
>>15338078

I think there is a bandai tank kit of a tank that is from the gundam universe, a pretty big one. That one should be snap fit.
>>
>>15337519
I've got an idea for a really cool melee kit, but I'm not sure if I'm good enough to pull it off since I'm new. I'd definitely try it if there's enough time for trial and error.

How long would the build last?
>>
>>15337519
I really hope the g Gundam one doesnt win. as much as I like g gundamaged I think it would really limit what I can do if I have to do one based off of Pennsylvania. I mean I could do Amish or steel but that's about it. All of the other ones give me a lot of room to be creative

Anon, I have commanded a small expeditionary detachment to reconnoiter gunpla assets in Chicago twice previously. My 2016 notes follow:

> Chicago map objectives (gunpla, scratchbuilding supplies):
> Games-Plus
In Mount Prospect
Open until 8
Great selection of scratchbuilding supplies (Evergreen), verified in Chicago Gunpla Sarrfari ver 2105.

> Hobbytown USA
In Schaumburg strip mall
Open until 6 weekends, 7 weekdays

> Nakama Import Toys
In downtown Chicago
Open until 7
Decent prices on gunpla, some old kits

> Ram Train & Hobby Shop
In downtown Chicago
Open 10-3
Scratchbuilding supplies, nice owner

> The Gaming Goat
In Oak Park or Schaumburg

> Giftland?
High markup, might get lucky!

> Oakridge Hobbies
In Lemont
Good store reviews, terrible online reviews

> McMaster Carr
South of Rosemont
Great for screws and other raw scratchbuilding materials

> Strategic objectives:
Support local gunpla businesses
Meet nice shop owners

> Battle plan:
Advance by heavy rail to Chicago Strategic Region
Deploy shopping sortie to each map objective via Uber-branded Gaw transport craft
Three map objectives present shopping targets of opportunity (additional locations around town): Games-Plus, Hobbytown USA, and The Gaming Goat
Acquire war materiel (gunpla supplies), exfiltrate via heavy rail back to Forward Operating Base

> Known tactical threats:
Galactic Force (closed)
Graham Cracker Comics (comics only, no gunpla)
Quake Collectibles (vintage toys, no gunpla)
Ka-Pow Collectibles (vintage toys, one built PG Banshee)
J-One Toys (closed)
Barnes and Noble (not locally owned)
C2E2 (a convention only?)
>>

Any non-US Anons can use their national colors and be a baller like Fellini. I live in a flyover state, what am I going to do, make Cornfield Gundam? Hillbilly Zaku?

And frankly, it's not like California or New York Gundam would be much more interesting.

Lots of hobby stores carry the paints and supplies, most don't carry the kits, builder's parts, etc.

As the person who suggested the G Gundam one, I actually kind of regret the "rules" I came up with.

It'd be WAY more entertaining and fitting to the source material to pick a country that WASNT yours and make a Gundam based on minimal research and the stereotypes you have of it.

Fellow NL anon here. The store a space oddity in Amsterdam has the bandai Star Wars kits in stock every once in a while. Horribly overpriced though. Recently bought the Revell Star Destroyer from a store in Rotterdam. Was an alright kit but all the parts came seperate in the box so no runners or anything. I'm not getting it and it's not for a disliking of it, I was just never as interested in it or any other Gundam in seed as much as Justice and Infinite Justice.
However, it really helps that we KNOW what the suit can do. It not only looks mean, it looks like it's meant to just raze an enemy location with sheer power rather than being all tactical or elegant. However, we again know just how elegantly it was piloted.
That's an attractive juxtaposition in my eyes even if I won't pick this up (that said I do like the kit's look way more than the anime art).

Question for OP that I'd like some of the regulars here to chime in on.

Why do you consider the tripfags and their server so important that you put a disclaimer about them above the guide in the first post?

I can understand wanting to be "in control" of your thread, wanting to maintain your personal power, etc., (regardless of whether or not I agree with you), but I can't understand putting that shit about them above the guide and the important info.

Who else here would prefer to see that disclaimer at the bottom of the OP post, or somewhere else entirely?

Hey anons, I'm looking to get a perfect grade, and I'm not sure which one to go with. I like zakus, but the strike freedom and 00 raiser look neat too. What do you all think is one that is a fun build and looks good?
>>
>>15342608

Perfect Grades have been around for a long time, so the first few like the RX-78 and the Zakus, while can still be great looking, do have some stability issues, or so I've been told. I would say the MK II's and the GP-01/Fb are very popular, especially with the GP-01 being able to convert easily to both modes. It's definitely one that's on my radar.

Im rewatching Build Fight, some guys noticed that Iori is renforcing canon of his rifle with metal tubes INSIDE the barrel and he put MULTIPLE layers of plastic when he builds the shields.
What the fuck, is this even possible IRL ? Also they never show him use any special tools beside the common gunpla tools.

(They fight only with HG if i remember ?)
>>
>>15342608
i think they all look good, so choose one that you like best. only "complaints" i've heard of are that wing zero wiring are tedious and you need to press the gn condensers in order to move some of the joints for 00 raiser.

well i was overly excited to buy it and get home and start on it, normally i power through the snap of a build in just a few hours. THIS MOTHERFUCKER jsut made me not want to build it at all and i have no idea why.

OOB it looks good and has good color separation and everything it just felt like such a chore to build. the dry transfers that came with mine all tore at a point so none of them are applied properly and as you can see it just cannot hold the long rifle properly in any decent pose.

i'd say 6/10 but with a little joint tightening probably an 8/10

Why is the disclaimer first instead of at the bottom of the OP post?

Well to be fair half of them are progress pics of either the Hi-Mock or Graze Brothers, and with only minor hand-painting of details they're not going to look very different after putting them together.

That's what's kinda irksome about the Melee build, there isn't anything kit I'd want to buy for it and the Hi-Mock D20 is the one I have with the best Melee only options.

With Tacticool I was at least going to get a Shiden to kit out, and while I probably wouldn't work up the nerve to attempt the Hawkeye Strike Freedom for the Gundam Fight, I could at least do shitty MS paint mock-ups.

Hoping to do some cool Melee action posing pics at least, but it's still going to be the same damn Hi-Mock for the most part.

The roller feet were made from an old Dragonar kit called the Gan-Dolla, with a toe made from the Sentry Gun from Kotobukiya and the top fender made from an old Zoid spider kit.
The Zssa was part of a contest entry from last summer that required work in progress pictures. This attached picture has some of the raw elements involved, but I didn't use everything pictured. I tend to make it up as I go along...

The Kimaris's lance is a lance first, with the cannons inside it as a sub weapon. Meanwhile the Graze machine gun with the lance attachment is still a gun first, melee second. The first is an example of something fine, and the second not so much.

Basically anything that's not a machine gun/beam rifle/pistol/bazooka/missile launcher/shoulder cannon/fin funnel/bit/dragoon/fang/etc would be considered fair game.
