HGIBO is a very budget-considerate line that tends to cut corners on what originally came standard in HGUC, akin to AGE and G-reco kits (pay very close attention to non-Gundam kits, as HGIBO suffers issues with weak/lazy arm joints and ungainly leg designs).

The last quarter has been a nice roller coaster of hilarity and weekly deaths finally being dealt to the main cast. If there was anything the first season needed more of, it was more character deaths or mistakes being made by Tekkadan along their nascent rise to power.

I don't think Mika has a canonical age since he was a little murderhobo for so many years that he probably has no idea. According to the Gundam wiki, Atra is 16, so he'd be roughly the same age as her.
You could say they're small because they were both stunted from lack of nutrition in their formative years.

Bael's design is actually very reasonable, when you think about it.

Agnika was preparing to go into battle against Mobile Armors. He knew that no gun would really be useful against them, so he was going to have to get up close and personal. He also couldn't go toe-to-toe with them, so he needed a Mobile Suit that was fast, highly agile and the ability to hit like your mother on a bender.

No fancy tricks, just get in close and murder them with swords.

I'd argue that this series has relatively little plot armor, because look at what's happening! The main characters are dropping like flies. They're getting exactly what you'd expect when you fight the Evil Space United States: A slow, drawn-out, miserable end.

McGillis stupidity is insulting

-Had the most powerful heir of the 7S in love with him and the only other competent 7S heir MS pilot as a good friend, but betrayed both. All he had to do was marry Carta and never betray Gaelio and he would control 3 of the 7 seats

-Didn't confirm the Gaelio kill when he had all the time in the world

-All he managed to advance in GJ during the timeskip was getting Carta's useless position after all that planning

-Performed a coup and took over the main HQ but didn't take opportunity to acquire 5 Gundams in pristine condition and lots of Dainsleifs

-Didn't pursue Vidar and killed him after getting Bael when he had everything to accomplish this

-Didn't bother to upgrade his army from vanilla Grazes or even get a new capital ship for him

-Didn't give the perfected AV surgery to his army, even to his most trusted followers so they could use the 7S Gundams or simply give new cockpits to existing MS

-Chose to pilot a fucking Ritter instead of the Schwalbe which can fly in the atmosphere or get a custom Reginlaze if he didn't have any spare Valkyrja Frames

-Stopped using ranged weaponry for no reason while using the Ritter

-Upgraded the nimble Grimgerde into a MS that's fucking useless besides fighting MAs

-Didn't get hit once in S1, but almost died to fucking Takaki in S2. Couldn't even dodge a hit from the MA

-Didn't even consider some people wouldn't follow him after getting Bael

-Lost a sword made of the rarest metal in the universe during the 1st fight against Punished Gaelio

-After Bael strategy failed he had no backup plans or troops

You really need to understand what 'protagonist' means to know why this statement irks me. The only way that 'twist' would be true is if, say the second half of season 2 shifted the entirety of its focus from Tekkadan to Gjallarhorn. Meaning, 80% or more of the scenes focusing on Iok, Julieta, Gaelio and Rustal instead of McGillis and Tekkadan. Julieta and Gaelio in particular have had very little screentime the past couple episodes.

It's been pretty obvious that Tekkadan is going to lose this final confrontation. They are outnumbered, most of their MS have sustained damage and they don't have the funds and resources to repair them. And if push comes to shove, there's always the almighty Dainsleif.

My vote for "how IBO will end" -betting pool is following.
Tekkadan manages to escape and clear their records. Gjallarhon fucks up the operation against them, in front of the media. Gjallarhon looses the last of their reputation and falls apart. Earth rips itself into new era of constant warfare and through that Mars gets it's independence as everyone on Earth is too busy nuking their neighbor to really care.
