Looks like it, for them humans making the stories are like gods. And it looks like someone has a bone to pick with the gods.

If they actually give ALL the characters decent development and fun interactions, then it may be cool.

But it looks like they are focusing more on the fantasy stuff, which doesn't particularly interest me.

I feel like this would be a pretty cool premise if they had to work together to do something instead of fight each other. Forcing generic archetypes from different genres onto a team could actually let them play off each other in ways that don't just rehash their original roles.

Chances are this will blow though. It'll probably think that just acknowledging that these characters are unrealistic stereotypes with meta-ish dialog is creative enough to carry a series rather than doing something new with the archetypes.

Also, this plot kinda reminds me of Timestalkers, which is about parts of various worlds (some from other Climax Entertainment games) being jammed together, with various heroes from them figuring out how to reverse it. It eventually turns out that an old guy was responsible, wanting to see the heroes go on endless adventures for his amusement, so they force him to put a stop to it.
