>like this one
In what way?
Character design is by Takahiro Kimura, who also did GaoGaiGar, Betterman and adapted CLAMP's designs for Code Geass. Also those Viper games.
Relationship-wise I think G Gundam is close. Domon and Rain is like a squabbling old couple.

>In what way?
In every way, if I could. Like, if I could just have another season of Godannar, that would be fantastic, but since I can't have that then what's the closest approximation thereof?
>>15325658
Idk man. There's nothing quite like it.
On one hand it's a 70/80s tribute anime and the ones in the same vein would be Dangaioh, G-Dangaioh, Getter Robo Go TV and all the Imagawa stuff. However, it has enough originality in it to stand out from that bunch.
O yeah, go view the "official" doujins if you haven't.

He also did designs for Gun x Sword.
Daimidaler

Kotetsushin Jeeg sorta counts, since you got fanservice and hijinks juxtaposed with an older cast trying to make up for lost time due to a decades-old tragedy.
If you want another mecha tribute with cheesecake, there is the Justeen OVA, but it has no subs.
If you want something with more girls and less relationships, Kirameki Project has a neat tale of ladies trying to fend off invaders that turn out to be older folks.
If you want another relationship of dubious nature, Idolmaster Xenoglossia will do the trick.

this, Kotetsushin Jeeg and Gravion
For less T&A: Gaiking LoDM, Dai-Guard and maybe Dancouga Nova
>>15325891
>Gravion
That one was pretty boring though
>>15325974
Zwei kicks things up a few notches though
>>15325640
Gravion I guess, but it's god awful
check out the Yuusha series if you havent yet
>>15325640
In terms of super robot fanservice show
Gravion
To much much lesser extent: Daimidaler
In terms of fun super robot stuff:
Gaiking Lodm
Kotetsushin Jeeg
Mazinkaiser OVA
Shin Mazinger
Getter Robo
Daitarn 3
GaoGaiGar

Daimidaler was more of a gag comedy show, and didn't play the super robot elements straight.
I don't think it's a crime to say
>It's kind of like Goddanar, but too a mech lesser extent
in that kind of context. Gravion doesn't have a whole lot in common either, but I'd say it's closer in that vein, hence no caveats.
>>15325640
Godan Gonar was a great little show.
>>15331087
>and didn't play the super robot elements straight.
yes it. It played them completely straight. That's why it worked as a parody.
>>15325651
>those Viper games
>Also Code Geass and GaoGaiGar
That also explains why I found many things visually familiar, makes much sense.

'OfficiaLDoujins'
Are they on sadpanda?
>>15331831
They are even on sadpanda-lite

>I need shows like this one
So does the world my friend. So does the world.
Does anyone here from the old days have a file called
>Goddanar_Materials.zip
I lost it in a hard drive crash.
You might like Z-Mind. It's not that great, but it's only 6 episodes.
