For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!

Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

There are a few things I'd do differently, anon, but honestly? This shows legit promise.

> panel lines a bit heavy and dark but at least you're panel lining.

Is one of those arms sword jobbies reversed? I'm not familiar with this kit.

>>

Not bad at all. You're pretty good. No, really, I like this kind of dramatic presentation. Hope it's as much fun to think up as it is for me to read, if not more.

Thanks for that.
I tried to manage the panel lining better, but I can't seem to get it any finer with a gundam marker. I tried the gray marker, but the white on the Spiegel gundam is kinda gray anyhow, so it washes out pretty easily.

The nubs were kinda tricky for me as this was one of my first kits. My biggest problem was the flash on the hands. They're rubber, so it doesn't shave off easily, and it flexes too much for my nippers to grab onto. I'm probably going to just order some extra 1/100 hands.

Gonna try to top coat this week. The only thing available locally is testor's dullcote, but I've got some semi gloss I ordered a while back. I thought I could semi gloss, apply decals, and then matte coat.

And yes, one of the blades is reversed. I must've missed it when I was posing.

Any advice is appreciated.
>>
>>15318885
As always, thoroughly test new paints on a bit of spare runner/sprue just to make sure it won't eat your particular kit's plastics.

Give each paint layer its full cure time to help avoid awful problems. It takes patience to cut that risk down, so if it feels like it's taking longer than it should, is ok.

Any advice for the panel lining? Can it get any better with the gundam marker, or do I need to just try panel washing?
>>
>>15318926
You can always lighten up/thin out panel lines with solvent and a q-tip cotton bud, until you cap it with flat clearcoat. That stuff sponges up panel lining in a bad way if you try to panel line after flatting.

Panel washing is indeed awesome.
>>
>>15318950
Noted. I tried pointed q tips and alcohol last night, but I felt like it was too thin/messy looking. Maybe I'll try again tonight and post some pictures for criticism.
>>
>>15318975
No harm done! You can always strip and try with a little less or a little more until you're happy with it.

if you switch to washing, you can mix up a correct graytone for your Spiegel.

3mm mechanical pencil is how I started. There's an official gundam one, but any will do. That's only for the white parts though.

Also real touch markers with q-tips. You just have to keep in mind that real touch are meant for smearing with a q-tip. Watch some vids on Youtube.

There's also panel line ink, I forget what's its called. But basically you drop it into the crevasses and it spreads out on it's own. Never used it though.

Still plugging away my pg aile strike. Got delayed as airbrush needle needed to be replaced. Tried to go real nuts on the detail this one.I even painted the joints between the fingers silver, to give it a more mechanical look. Also have some preshading. Want this thing to look factory fresh.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

really like the color scheme so far. might be because of the picture, but the gold on the thighs look a bit grainy. my main question is what happened to your manuel
>>
>>15319561
It's not that grainy, but I think it's the future + the lighting on the picture.

As for the manual, I accidentally spilled some dish soap on it ( I was washing some parts in the sink and had the manual next to me for whatever reason). I left it and the parts overnight to dry and it stuck to the counter Went to pick it up and then it ripped.

Good choice, the Ɐ Gundam was my grail for a while, and I'm more than happy with it.

Few tips:
Panel line the thing, preferably with black. It honestly looks too plain without panel lining.

The yellow clear piece looks like it can easily pop off. It does, and it's up to you whether or not you want to thicken it.

The green in the forehead is a dry transfer. Honestly just paint it in.

Painting the cow is mandatory.

>>15320432
Make a tarp with garbage bags put it on the wall and use your bathroom maybe, wear a mask too.
>>
>>15320636
I started with an MG, there's nothing inherently harder with them. It's just more pieces and I guess more of a risk if you fuck up because of the price tag.

RGs are hard though just because there's 1000 pieces and their all small as fuck. At least with MGs most of the parts are pretty large. They are also easier to detail and shit, again because of the size.
>>
>>15320641
do RGs even need extra detailing? They're already super detailed
>>
>>15319548
Marry me
>>
>>15320658
It's not like they are panel lined or anything.

You could display an RG out of the box, then again you COULD do it with any kit. Granted an undetailed RG would look nicer than an undetailed HG, it might even look better than an undetailed MG because the size is small enough for it to go unnoticed and there's a lot of color separation on the parts.

By detailing I mean:
painting
shading
panel lining
decaling
weathering

You may or may not do one or more of those.
>>
>>15320658
other than panel lining, not really
>>
I love the look of a finished RG, but Jesus they're a chore to build.

I'd probably never bother with them if the payoff wasn't worth it.

desu another blog said the same kit was made by a different company. I wouldn't be surprised if its still Magic Toys just under a different name.

as with all these chinese third party kits they'll take a bit of work to look amazing but its the best semi-mass produced woundwort kit we'll ever get and at $28 + shipping its a pretty fucking good deal. Interested to see if there is an inner frame

So I've been playing that new Ghost Recon: Wildlands game lately, and I've got a HG Jesta and Jesta Cannon in my backlog, so I thought it'd be cool to make a special forces MS squad.

I'll probably just do them up as a 4 or 5 suit squad. What would be cool to go with the two, other than more Jestas? I'm thinking Jegan ECOAS is an obvious choice for #3, but for #4 maybe something more specialized? My ideas so far are either a GM Sniper II or, to get a little more "elite custom unit" style going on, the GM Sniper K9 from the Build Fighters line. Assuming I go five man unit, the last one seems like it should be some leader type, going with some kind of Gundam for the unit leader isn't out of the question but feels too... stereotypical, either way I'm thinking either Delta Plus, Zeta Plus, or ReZEL Commander Type. Though I think something non-transformable would make more sense, to fit in better with the rest of the squad?

So the squad would be:
Jesta
Jesta Cannon
Jegan ECOAS
GM Sniper II OR GM Sniper K9
And some kind of leader.

Then after that I gotta worry about decals and other coolness.
>>
>>15321432
Well, keep that passion burning bright. I look forward to updates.
Part of me wants to suggest the Byarlant Custom for the leader, but that's me thinking about having a replacement for the drone and thinking it'd be cool to have the leader be the one who takes to the skies and gets in the back-line. It's not really meant for squad action ala Ghost Recon.
Although I've yet to see the original Byarlant in action so what do I know really

You could also go with the Loto:
Or the 1/100 R44 Guntank that succeeds it:
http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/F-50D_Guntank_R-44

Charm points being that it's smaller than the other suits and less advanced, yet it's the leader. Lots of tactical looking features and you can customize it. Also as the leader it's meant to stay back since it's their get-the-hell-out-of-Dodge machine since it can carry multiple people if the need arises.

The colour balance is off here and it looks a lot better on the RD promo pics and this video, I find:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcVWCC4vs7U [Embed]
I'll freely admit to my bias of liking green, meaningful optional parts and just having 2 separate looks in one package.

Fortunately I can mount the shoulder canon without much green exposure when it's beside the RX-78-2, I mean 02, when they're ready.
Just love how the 0 Gundam mixes 2 different Gundam series. 3 if they'd give us the GN wings for that feathery look though different from EW Wing Zero

I also enjoy the proportions and how beefed up it looks, I know the green isn't objectively good with those colors but I'm capable of seeing it as a necessary evil rather than and eyesore. Still a damn shame there's no 1/144 for use on other suits, like the Dynames.

On that note, I was wondering if it was actually possible to have armor pre-saturated with GN particles to the point of looking like/providing Trans-Am, albeit for a far shorter time and being incapable of generating more on its own. Basically an excuse for the green parts to be Trans-Am colors.

Welp I goofed it big with my first attempt at doing more than just a simple snap job. Tried to snip and sand the flags on the RX-78-2's v fin and ended up snapping one side in half instead. The other half came off clean but I ended up trying to sand them both down to be more even. Just about gave up hope right then and there.

I just finished my first build, the HG Zaku II, I really sucked at slicing off the nubs. I also fucked up with a paint pen
Overall I think it's not bad for my first gunpla, and model. I had hoped the Gundam ez8 would get in first so I could fuck that one up, but it still hasn't arrived.

What can I do to not fuck that one up, I bought some gray model paint but I'm unsure of how to go about painting it

The arms actually do fold up into a neat compact square and can be swivelled into the empty space below the graze shoulder pieces.

I'll grab a pic of that when i get home from work tonight,

I do intend for it to be a space type, I have some empty space on his back where I can throw in afew thrusters and a pair of booster tanks. Was also thinking between having these raptor graze ein legs, or the long pointy woundwort type space legs. The best would be a combination of both. Space legs are my fetish.

Hey, if grandpa there can look as good as most others in their prime without a HEAD, I believe you can gain some satisfying results yet.

Heck, make it another test-type, paint it your own colors if you feel the 'purity' of the RX-78-2 is completely lost to this kit.
Call it the [O]RX-78-2 or the RX-78-2O, the O stands for 'Oops', and put a tiny tape logo with the same word curdely written on it a la ODST Mickey's helmet somewhere, possibly on the spot of the mistake.

It's not the Gundam that makes the man, it's the man that makes the Gunpla! The beast of possibility lives in you!

Actually you sorta can since the Shrikes all adopt Victories by the end.

Neat. Are those 1/100s next to it or 1/144s? I may try to kitbash a schwalbe and an Ein.

The extenders aren't flimsy at all, because they're really short and have alot of material going on in there. They actually can hold a lot of weight. It's the standard graze ball joint waist you have to worry about.

These are all 1/144.

I already did something like that for the Asura Graze, so I was wondering how he wanted to do it.

>tfw you really wanted a six-armed Takemi but they're pretty much out of stock/not on sale everywhere and you don't want to drop 100 bucks on it again

I simply stuck a graze torso to another graze torso. The 3rd set of arms will follow the same way

You think the Ein could share parts with a 1/100?

Yes, or at the very least I know Damon's did, as well as the Bolt Gundam because I had those figures.

This weekend's play is to add two 1/550 Dendrobia to the rear fuselage because we need to go deeper! while rewatching GBF.
>>
>>15327209
So you bought a
1/144 Dendrobium
1/144 METEOR
1/550 Dendrobium x2?

Lunatic. (post pix)

surely you have an attractive and cohesive design in mind right?

not to mention the ability to execute?

2x Meteor, but you're essentially right

You've just seen the most up to date WIP pic!

> Lunatic.

I am!

> I sure hope this fucking thing is worth it

It's best if we assume that I am well-funded and that worth is assigned across many kinds of value beyond monetary. In other words, probably not worth it to most people.

> surely you have an attractive and cohesive design in mind right?

That's a pretty shaky maybe, tee bee aytch. Of course I will unify the colors, add electronics and lighting, and greeble up the surface a bit. Just kind of making it up as I go.

> not to mention the ability to execute?

I work slowly because I don't generally know how to do this stuff. The PG Mk-II this Dendrobium will be hooked onto is evidence enough of that.

Got the vidar topcoated. I need a better picture setup. What do you guys use for lighting?

Also, I've got a Jesta in the works, Sniper II on the way, and I need a replacement graze frame. I'm thinking of just ordering the cheapest 1/100 graze on Amazon and putting the schwalbe stuff on it.

Anon, you can make a free lightbox with a cardboard box, lights you have on hand, and wax paper, sheer fabric, or translucent plastic. Others use cheap styrofoam coolers, those work as well.

My god, I may not be the biggest fan of what you're building right now but I love you.

On a side note, I'm seconding what >>15327467 said, this thing better be cohesive.

I'd considered something like that. I'd also seen using some white foam board and a desk lamp. I like what you're suggesting though. Looks pretty cool.

I'd also considered going full blown just rig and just setting up my AR on my bipod and pointing the flashlight at it.
>>
>>15327577
Whatever you settle on, diffuse the light with something between your flashlight and your model unless you need Wing levels of edgy shadows.
>>
>>15327601
Gotcha. Thanks for the tips.
Do I use something like a sheet, or more like a slit in some cardboard ?
