The first thing Ryoma does is take on and win against all the best karate fighters in Japan. He does this both to avenge his father who was condemned by the martial arts community and because Ryoma does not respect the karate fighters for fighting clean. He thinks real warriors fight with all their strength 100% of the time and always fight to win--and fighting safely (without trying to kill their opponent) makes the modern karate masters cowards and fools.

Hayato Jin is a school boy revolutionary who plans to assassinate the PM of Japan. He doesn't hesitate to maim or kill his own men to enforce discipline. He abandons his cause and his fellows because fighting the Dinosaur Empire is a greater challenge.

A later chapter has the the Dinosaur Empire wipe out an entire Japanese city, with the only survivors being a handful of grade school boys. They scavenge some dynamite and plan to make a suicide attack on a dinosaur robot. Most of them don't survive the attempt, and there's a panel of a survivor carrying the head of his buddy and he comically pushes a wheelbarrow of explosives toward the enemy.

Getter Robo has _always_ been edgy as shit.

Take a look at this definition as to what edgy is:

Ryoma could easily be the best karateka in Japan without being a sociopathic jerk. As it is, he purposely fights to injure his sparring partner because he doesn't believe in holding back when fighting. It's an intensely juvenile view of sparring that, ethics aside, doesn't even stand up to logic. How is he going to stay at the top of your game when all your training buddies are dead? His violence and brutality are just there to show him as cool and badass, and to signify a disrespect for authority and tradition (and good sense).

Tellingly, this aspect of his character is dropped almost immediately. He's a brutal fighter when he's fighting robot dinosaurs, certainly, but when out of uniform he's just a nice buddy who hangs around Saitama labs and has an ackward teen crush on his boss's daughter.

Hayato is the same way. He goes from literally leading a band of revolutionaries planning to abduct the Prime Minister to a cool boy who gymnastic flips into his jet plane to impress girls.

Both of their violence and brutality serve no purpose but to make them look dangerous and exciting (and cool) and those characteristics are dropped when it becomes narratively convenient to do so. The plot demands these characters work together now, their previous character development be damned!

My only complaint about Xpearse is he can randomly pick up a series and put another on the back burner for a while or ignores other series. Hell I think darkness is a piece of shit and other better Getter media deserves translations more, but I'm not paying him and he's doing it for free so I just don't read darkness and wait until he starts on something I care about.

I appreciate any effort towards translating and xpearse does things pretty quickly and cleanly so I appreciate what he contributes. I don't think you get it. I'm not here to argue with you the ethics of scanlations, but xpearse, like any other scanlator, is taking someone else's work and translating it without their permission. He may be doing it for free, but it's not his product. He took someone's work and rewrote it in whatever way he wants (See Omorai-kun).

Just because something is free, doesn't mean it should be free from criticism. I didn't even criticise. I only pointed out a typo which should help him improve, but instead of actually acknowledging it, he goes on about how nobody cares and continued his dumb argument with some other moron. Almost all of that is conjecture based on what you say. The reason they fear Ryoma and his karate is because it's not commercialized, a real complaint about modern dojos which have turned karate into a competitive sport rather than a martial art.

Ryoma hates that people because his father was not only ostracized but, as they reveal later, it lead to him being ostracized and devouting his whole life to being a martial artist. Ryoma curses these people because he doesn't know what to do with his life after asserting his father's styles authority since the worlds rejects someone who actually knows how to fight. Part of why Ryoma jumps at the chance to pilot Getter is because it allows him to fight with his life on the line and with all his strength like he was taught but he also does it because it gave his life purpose.

Earlier you whine about how Hayato stops being a sociopath but Hayato through the manga's entire run shows eccentric and sociopathic tendencies. The reason he stops being a terrorist is literally stated when he speaks to his cousin and the crux of the first chapter and arc of G. Hayato realized that his disappointment with the government is nowhere near as important as his/humanitys survival and also the conflict of Getter vs the enemies of humanity is far more stimulating/challenging to him.

None of this is edgy, there is a reason for their actions and a method to their madness.
