The only real flaw that Azreal had was ignoring the danger of GENESIS and continuing to focus all attack efforts on the PLANTs. What does victory matter if your entire population and race are annihilated as a result?

Had he mearly had the remnants of the peace maker unit refocus attack efforts on GENESIS, fallen back after the weapon was knocked out, then used the chaos of ZAFT losing its main command structure along with the Clyne faction Coup at the end of the war, he could have reorginized another attack on the exhausted PLANTs and achieved total victory and possibly even snuffed out much of the Coordinators population.

The tragedy of Coordinators is that while much of the population themselves are decent people, their own inevitable sterility flaws and politically motivated arrogance will only continue to breed animosity towards Earth, even eventually leading to them attempting to gain social and political dominance and authority over Earth. Exterminating the core block of them hiding out on the PLANTs would have destroyed their national identity, forcing them into hiding or blending in with other naturals to survive, thus allowing them to serve as they were originally designed to. As gene incubators to create the perfect blend of modified and non-modifed genes.

Azreal is far from an ideal answer to this problem, however he offered a hell of a better solution than ZAFT and Lacus's fan club terror group ever did.
