How would you feel if /m/ got merged with /a/?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

>How would you feel if /m/ got merged with /a/?

It would be more honest to simply close down /m/ . No need for a subterfuge.
>>
>>15303887
What would you do if /m/ got closed?
>>
>>15303885
would shitpost /a/ with non anime robots using my 94 proxies until m came back
>>
I miss the spammer that used that image as OP
>>
>>15303885
We'd just be going back to pre-Destiny times. And that's fine, we've all left behind Destiny now.
>>
>>15304215
Destiny is something we all have to live with.
>>
Going back to MAL or Animesuki like the rest of the zeta fans here

The /m/ I knew is dead.
I'd be fine with /m/ getting merged. But honestly other boards are more deserving of being merged/purged.
>>
>>15303885
Wouldn't make much of difference.
>>
One less board to go to
>>
>>15303885
I'd rather /m merges with a new /scifi board.
That way we'd get more posters and I'm sure most of us like all sci fi.
>>
>>15304474
agreed
>>
>>15303885
It would trigger the hell out of f/a/gs because /m/ would be bringing a bunch of video games, toku/kaiju and western shit along with it. They'd spend every day for a year screaming, crying and shitting themselves in rage.

I say do it.
>>
>>15304474

Yeah, that was my suggestion a while back.

Mecha alone has simply proven to not be a big enough fanbase to support a board. But a general /scifi/ board would encompass everything that /m/ does now, plus some more stuff that the sort of people that like mecha would probably enjoy anyway.

And it means we don't get sunk in the waifu of the week flavor of the month cesspool that is /a/.
>>
>>15303885
You mean it isn't?
>>
>>15304600
/m/ is fine. It doesn't need to be as big as /v/ for it to be worthwhile.
>>
>>15304608
But now a few dedicated shitposter can tear us apart and we have no moderation.
Also I do just want a /scifi board.
>>
>>15304886
It would be non-stop Sheevposting.
>>
>>15304898
Oh shit. How could we keeps /scifi but without Starwars?
>>
>>15304474
This is the best possible option, would much prefer doing that than merging with that moeshit cesspool known as /a/
>>
>>15303885
I have no idea why everyone talks about /m/ being merged or turned into a different board.

I don't feel like hiroshimoot will be getting rid of us any time soon, I'd prefer that we stay our own board.

We're fine just the way we are, though.

Not as much shitposting as other boards, we stay on topic, we have a pretty good thing going here, pal.

Why fix what's not broken?
>>
>>15305107

If you think we don't have a problem with shitposting, you haven't been paying attention.
>>
>>15305135
I said "not as much shitposting" not there's none at all.
>>
>>15304474
>>15304527
>>15304976
>I want garbage mixed with more garbage
Flawless logic.

>>15305135
There's pretty much no shitposting in this board, just people giving their opinions on things and blind fanboys going rabid whenever it doesn't fit in line with what they think, which is par for the course for everything ever made.
>>
>>15305182
I want to say you're baiting, but if you're not not you'd just feel even more smug.
>>
>>15304600
/m/ isn't only mecha in the first place. /scifi/ would do nothing but narrow /m/'s scope.
>>
>>15305565

...would it? I know we do discuss things like star trek or LOTGH which are not actually mecha here, but do we really discuss anything that isn't some kind of scifi or would pass for it at a glance?
>>
>>15305602
Fantasy mecha like Escaflowne, Dunbine, Rayearth, etc?
>>
>>15305602
I'm not quite sure what the guy you're replying to meant, but "pass for it at a glance" might be part of it. The "X is fantasy, not science fiction" threads would make "Is X /m/?" threads look like amateur hour.
>>
>>15305182
>No shitposting
What? Is this your first time here or are you just pretending to be retarded?
>>
>>15305182
>Valvrager
>Lazy Masumoto guy
>More Like Infinite Shit amirite?
And then there's the IBO and G-Reco rivalry that shits up threads with retardation.

Going back would functionally change nothing for us but annoy the shit out of them, and i'm all for that.

This.

I'm fine with /a/'s community. Still, merging the boards would leave a lot of threads here orphaned. And even if /srwg/ is a vile den of shitposting, they don't deserve to get shunted to /v/.

>>

>/srwg/ is a vile den of shitposting
Not as much as the rest of /m/.
>>
>>15305666
And then you'd get the whole "Isn't fantasy just another type of SF?" thing going.
>>
Bad idea. /a/ is a hell of a lot bigger than /m/ nowadays. /m/ would be totally drowned out and /a/ wouldn't benefit.

There's no reason to get rid of /m/. It doesn't get enough traffic to be a drain on resources.
>>
>>15304600
>Mecha alone has simply proven to not be a big enough fanbase to support a board.

Bullshit, anything can do it. /jp/ has survived this entire time on nothing but 2hu, shitposting, and once in a while someone taking pictures of Japan's countryside.
>>
>>15309326
>/m/ would be totally drowned out
I don't think so.

/mlp/ also slowed down a whole lot and continues to do so (pretty sure they are already on /m/'s level of activity).
However, if you threw them back on /co/, you can bet your ass it would only reinvigorate them since they'd be in constant contact with the outside world.

Similarly here. People here want to talk about the topics. What would happen is that people here would push for them and some portion of /a/ would join in (partially to oppose it, partially to join in the discussion).

At least that's my view on it.
After all, this place was built for a good reason...

/a/, /jp/, and /m/ should be combined into one board and called /weab/.
>>
But their souls are weighed down by gravity! I would rather drop A colony on /a/ then rejoin that cesspool.
>>
What if we join all boards together?
>>
>>15304534
If only for this.
DO IT.
>>
>>15309326
It would only get drowned out if you don't participate in the threads. If people want to talk about mecha, threads will happen.
Even the weekly IBO threads manage to stay afloat until natural thread death.
Your fears are baseless.
>>
>>15309939
>pretending to be an oldfag

>>15304534
/a/ wouldn't give a shit because they'd just participate in the threads they have interest in.
>>
>all these /a/pologists

They unironically like code Geass ffs!!
>>
Sure, while we're at it, let's merge /vr/, /vp/, and /vg/ back with /v/.

There's no point to getting rid of /m/. There's just nothing to be gained. The people who like /m/ won't be happy, the people who like /a/ will be unhappy or won't care, killing /m/ won't help the site in any way.
>>
>>15303885
I'd be sad we didn't have a place for karatemen, supercops, or Star Trek threads anymore.
>>
>>15310477
Good point. Let's just kill the whole site!
>>
>>15303885

>>

>>15310477 and >>15310357
The only reason why you're clinging onto /m/'s corpse is due to an unearned sense of elitism fueled by nostaliga. /m/ is dead, and each day it just dies a little more. It would greatly benefit /m/ discussion if we were to be merged back with /a/. Only interesting /m/ threads would be able to survive because people would actually be interesting in participating in them. No more blatant shitpost threads sitting around for weeks on end because the population of /m/ could be counted on one hand.

Also if you didn't notice, splitting up /v/ was the worst thing that happened to it. It killed good discussion, and turned /v/ into a wasteland of shitposting.
Those boards were borne from the fact that the mods are, and have always been incompetent.

In other words. Fuck off newfag.
