I ended up seeing one of his other works where the mecha suit was basically being worn by its pilot. At first glance it's a showy, fanciful waste of resources, but-
It made me start thinking about the psychological effects it could have, good and bad, for soldiers who were sent into the THICK of it for a long, long time and all alone. Add to that if there's an AI, or the suit has muscle memory to archive things the pilot does to help them perfect techniques, or the AI ends being like a child that learns after them like a parent almost so it can get beyond-the-books experience.
