These are usually fun. Gonna start with some stuff I saved from previous threads.
>>15295962
Designs from an anon who was helping with a local TV toku project, if memory serves. It fell through because the creator went full retard or something.
>>15295964
S'all I got for now. Any drawfags working on stuff?
>>15295962
Well I've not been in /m/ for years, but have an old /m/ original.
>>15295971
Ah, those old ancient times where Kamen Riders still had to look like Kamen Riders.
>>15296021
>Kamen Rider Yen
>So good they ripped it off to make OOO
>>15295971
>>15296031
Does anyone still have info on this? Looks interesting.
>>15299090
I have some more images saved from back then.
Basically the deal with these riders was that their belts are powered by money, literally have to insert cash to transform and such.
My eternal love to the anon who drew this a while back.
>>15299104
The crappy MS paint OC he drew it from for comparison.
Didn't even ask for him to do it, they just did it and I love him (or her) for it.
>>15299097
'Kamen Rider Yen' underneath the mask is a scruffy homeless man, he ended up coming across this belt by accident when it had been discarded/hidden by someone else to keep it out of the wrong hands.
He initially wore it just because his mundane belt was broken an he needs something to hold his trousers up.
Now you can see the obvious problem for our future hero, that the source of his superpowers is something he struggles to acquire.
This would lead to a source for alot of the humour/drama/plotlines for him.
>>15299114
He had a couple of supporting cast mates.
This female character for instance went through a couple of changes.
He needs some help, friendship and people to bum money off of. She was originally portrayed more as a business woman (which I will show you in a second) but then it was thought that would give her too much money at her fingertips to aid him with, thus the change to a younger character who's petty cash does not stretch so far.
>>15299133
Her original design concept.
>>15299137
Now to expand slightly on Riders as a whole in this setting.
There are multiple of them, all powered by some particular form of currency (which is a fruitful source of jokes depending on which) but with varying gimmicks on just how they cash-in.
In terms of morality it can vary, some were good and some were bad/selfish.
Here is an example of the character who would fill the 'Secondary Rider' role and become an ally to Yen down the Road.
An American rider powered by the dollar, instead of using coins or notes he would use credit cards to activate and charge his belt.
Friendly but boisterous, loud and overflowing with cheesy comicbook-level puns related to the theme of money.
{{I don't suppose King Nekketsu still posts here?}}
>>15299159
En'Ichi is KR Yen's name of course, its been too many years that I can't actually remember what his full name is.
>>15299168
Oh I liked this design, another currency Rider but an antagonistic and also highly powerful one.
Aristocratic and absolutely loaded in comparison to our hobo hero, he used cheques as his way of fueling the belt.
Starting off in an eccentric form for general getting about he did have an ace up his sleeve readily available for when things got serious...
>>15299182
Bam!
I was never one of the primary anons involved in all this, SRW-Eternity was the only /m/ project personally had any significant experience with, but I did like it enough to save these images.
There was a great deal more discussion, more worldbuilding and more images like some of the the other riders (a Kamen Rider 'Yuan' who would have had a particular antagonism with Yen), its a shame there weren't all the boorus and such around back then.
Goddammit I'm feeling old now, does anyone from back then still post on /m/?
>immediately swarmed by tokufags
Great
>>15299196
Good shit, thanks for the history lesson oldfriend.
>>15299264
Post robits, if it's bothering you so much.
>>15299264
Someone specifically asked for more information about an /m/ original creation, don't be daft
Ok I have a really ambitious request for anyone who wants to try and do it. I have been wanting to do my own mecha story for a while now and I do not have any visual references for the mecha I want that is my own. I mostly just try to put together an image in my head because I cannot draw. My mecha are only 15 feet tall and have a humanoid skeletal frame underneath a plate like armor, with the cockpit in the upper back that is fairly small and cramped, consisting of only a main console and a seat. The pilot has to wear a special pilotsuit and helmet that plug into the main console to be able to see out of the mecha's camera eyes as well as give the Pilot an HUD, once the pilotsuit and helmet are connected the pilot synchronizes with the mecha and is able to control it with his or her own mind. Basically It's inspired by the TA from Gasaraki as well as Knightmare Frames from Code Geass and Armored Core. The thing I have the most problems coming up with is the head Unit. I want the mechas to have different looking head units, like the Supporting character has a Mecha that's "eyes" Are basically dots that make an upsidedown triangle think like the Grunt helmets from FF7 but the dots are turned upside down. Since the mecha have a skeletal frame the armor can be changed out and the headpiece armor changes as well, I had the idea that the sniper type armor would have an eye section that resembled a horned owl, while a stealth unit would have multiple eyes like a spider. The Main character is a female who's rather butch though is really...for lack of a better term voluptuous. The story would have some very /d/ elements as the secondary main character I stated above with the dot eyes would be a rather bottom heavy Trap. And I'd have no idea what to make her head unit look like. I'm a big fan of Armored Core and Front Mission and Gasaraki style mecha, I was hoping someone could at least draw the secondary main character's mecha. 1/2
>>15299294
2/2 If you want to draw the skeletal frame or other headpieces that would be ok. I wouldn't ask you to draw any of the weapons though there are some unique ones, and if anyone is interested in drawing those please let me know. If you are interested in drawing the pilot suit or any characters also let me know. I WOULD commission someone to do this art but I haven't the money, or a job at the moment.
is mecha musume frowned upon here?
>>15299309
Might depend on how mecha the musume is? Doubt you'll get banned for it as long as its worksafe tho
>>15295962
Finished this today.
Rough, but I wanted to go for a particular feeling as opposed to depicting a detailed mechanical design (which was made up on the fly).
It's supposed to be a tank but I ended up giving it legs.
>>15301143
Should have made it a tank with treads and everything... but then added some legs below that.
>>15301164
I want it to have as little kibble as possible when combined. Going in that direction may defeat my intent.
>>15299309
it's fine
post robogirls
>>15299524
that looks p cool
rendered this a few weeks ago, working on a zudah right now
Any anons good at frankening? Been playing around with an idea but my editing and coloring skills are too shit to do it proper.
>>15301388
Oh shit, nice. I can even see where >>15301143 fits in.
Anon who made this, are you still here?
Are requests allowed?
I'd like to request mecha versions of Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls.
>>15295962
Hey, creator of the OP pic here. I'm glad there are people here that enjoy my work.
Here's something I did more recently
>>15301143
MG Rexs cousin?
>>15308266
that looks wonderful!
>>15308266
Beautiful work my friend.
>>15308266
Saved, excellent work anon.
A fully rendered version of the work I posted in one of these threads last time, through Sketchfab.
Fucking tokufags, etc., etc.
>>15308823
Nice!
bump!
I'm trying to get into animation, and I just finished this a while ago. Not sure if it counts as /m/ though.
>>15310155
Very nice.
I assume they're knights but fantasy robots are always very welcome.
>>15308397
>>15308387
>>15308384
Thanks.
I also made a bunch of variants using the same chassis
>>15310253
>>15310261
>>15310253
These are nice to look at.
>>15304264
yes
what's up?
it really feels like someone calls for me with that image every single drawthread
>>15310536
Probably the same person
So, as an artist looking to get better at this sort of mechanical design, are there any resources out there which might help? Are there any books on the fundamentals of mecha design, either from an aesthetic or purely mechanical perspective?
>>15310745
Just study from the mechs you like.
>>15310745
I recommend Scott Robertson's books. He teaches fundamentals in industrial design and concept art especially for mechanical design. You can start with these two books:
Scott Robertson - How to Draw
Scott Robertson - How to Render
>>15308326
Huh not the only one
I haven't really finished or colored anything recently, but I do have some little sketches that I've done at work or wherever.
>>15308823
Oh cool. I did not know free web gallery of such exists. Here's my attempt at it: >https://sketchfab.com/models/7f5930ccee494511986dc09df805a9ea
Found this in an /a/ drawthread
>>15315270
/a/ actually made something cool, nice.
>>15295970
Is he looking at his old head? I always assumed X and OG Zero's helmets were part of their structure.
