At this point, I hope Toei delivers a new TV series with the original VAs, since it seems Japanese audience is obsessed with them. But I hope it follows the manga plot like Shin, but with more fights.
BTW , Akabane is a great voice for Koji. And I really liked Mazinkaiser's Tetsuya.

I think Shin Tetsuya's voice actor, Fumihiro Awano did a great job as him in the anime, and also in SRW V. I'm glad they brought him back for the game. What makes it even better is that he got to voice Great Mazinger lines, Mazin Emperor G lines and other kinds of lines that you wouldn't hear in the Shin anime. It's really nice fan service and he did a great job at his lines in the game. It's like what we would hear him say in a Shin Great anime.

By the way, is that the design sketch for Great for the Shin Mazinger anime?

The upcoming movie will be your usual Toeizinger. Just look at Dragonball Super, the various Saint Seiya spinoffs, Sailor Moon Crystal, Tiger Mask W.

Do you see any deviation here? They're all nostalgia pandering pretty hard. They'll use the original music from the 70s show to get the old fags excited.

This movie will be the safest and probably the furthest from Nagai's tone.

But I'd love to be proven wrong. I guess we'll see in 3 more weeks.

Yeah, he worked as a script writer several times afterwards, but his only other work as a director was Wasimo, like you mentioned there. He also ended up working as a storyboard artist for stuff like Durarara X2 and World of FF's CG opening. So, he definitely wasn't just dropping animation to concentrate on writing. He just isn't getting to headline productions anymore.

I don't thibk SRW will ever use the classic again. Probably they'ok stuck with Shin and make it more similar to the original one (music scenario).
A Mazinger Z (manga version) could use the assets in Shin, with old voices and music, so everyone will be happy.
But I have to admit that SRW Z really paid homage to the Dynamic Classics in the best possible way!
