Keith Thompson is great for these
this one's always creeped me out
>>15293672
its just so silly and absurd i cant help but laugh at it.
>>15293672
What in the ever living fuck...
>>15293672
Patlabor, early days
>>15293556
>>15293603
Quadruple amputation makes me cringe. What are they supposed to do when they're done with the mech?
Phyrexia fo life
>>15294716
You hang them up on the wall and wait for the next time you need them in the mech
>>15294716
>>15294721
We full Strogg?
>>15293719
>Wow these would be so cool in a game!
>oh...
>>15294734
Either that or go the more tame XCOM route and give them some compatible regular limbs.
>>15294741
Still better then what it became in the end.

>>15294832
>It gets worse
WHY ANON
>>15294720
Mirrodin deserved better thant that!
>>15294716
They lay in bed comfily demanding you take care of all of their needs. When the amputee catgirl isn't piloting a mecha you have to carry her to the toilet and wait for her to finish, constantly.
>>15294741
>>15294838
Oh dear god.
I vaguely remembered World War Machine and always wondered what had happened to it, and I knew that a game called Livelock existed, but I had no idea that Livelock is what WWM turned into. That is... most unfortunate.
Especially since WWM was a game I would have enjoyed playing, probably. Ah well.
>>15293672
Reminds me of the cameramen from Ender's Game. I always imagined they dressed sort of like Imakuni with sunglasses and moved in an unnaturally smooth motion, always facing you.
Seeing this thread makes me realize why there's such a divide between japanese and occidental mech designs.
Japanese usually see robots as heroic, occident sees robots as monsters that will steal our jerbs and make us skynet slaves.
God, no wonder occident sucks at this. People still believe Terminator was a documentary.
>>15294716
You stick them in a civilian frame wih normal-sized robotic limbs. Shit like OP is unrealistic anyway since the organic parts would definitely get infected.
Limb stuff definitely freaks me out. Like in Batman Beyond where those guys got all those crazy augmentations, but all Terry had to do to stop them was to say a codeword and watch as the prosthetics shut down and fell off.
>>15295449
Well at least the occident has a less stupid vision of robots.
Like seriously? Heroic robots? Why not compassionate garden hoses while we're at it?
I know it's fiction so it's stupid to attribute intents and emotions to machines either way but goddamn.
Is it kind of like how legendary swords are supposed to have a "fighting spirit" or someshit? Cause that's already pretty silly but at least it's tone-appropriate.
>>15294716
Give them prosthetic limbs? Duh
Stop being a pussy when there's a war to win, rev up that circular saw!
>>15295449
Yes anon, we know, you bring up how evil the west portrays robots every single thread.
>>15295470
Seems dangerous
>>15294716
Normal sized prosthetic limbs
>>15295468
We have hero cars in movies and TV already, why not robots?
>>15295598
Yes
>>15295604
A mech-homage of KITT would be sick as all hell.
>>15295468
>Heroic robots? Why not compassionate garden hoses while we're at it?
Yeah fucking gundams and transformers amrite? Fiction is so fucking stupid. Who thought robots were cool for mature clever gentlemen such as myself. At this moment I am euphoric.
People watch cartoons and buy merchandise, that's why. It's no different from the oh so superior occident people enjoying star wars stuff or superhero stuff for the 1000th time
>>15293556
>get shot in the chest
>robot fails because the pilot is exposed and unarmored
Gee, that was smart.
>>15295802
Aye comrade, but what soldier in the world could stand firm and take steady aim against such a hellbeast when it charges on them?
Sometimes intimidation is its own armor, friend.
>>15295806
>intimidation
Oh, fuck off.
>>15295809
You're telling me you wouldn't run screaming from a giant metal man that has a screaming fleshy men attached to its face?
>>15295819
That only fucking works once and you know it.
>>15295819
No
This thread screams TACTICOOL.
On another note could anyone recommend some old underappreciated anime directors with a good filmography whose work I could follow?
I mean obviously other than Oshii, Tomino, Anno etc
>>15295858
Miyazaki, Otomo.
>>15295468
You mean the same fucking way we treat our aircraft?
>F-16 FIGHTING FALCON
Heroic mechs are heroic because of the design and name, you tard.
>>15295474
I...haven't posted here in months. But whatever, bruh.
>>15295923
Well there's always someone in these threads that complains how the west portrays robots, usually with the same Terminator reference specifically.
>>15295928
Maybe because every internet discussion about robotics or AI (anywhere, not meaning here or in 4chan specifically) includes a group of people going batshit because OMG SKYNET. I can see why many people would point that out.
>>15295819
>be soldier in field
>see "giant metal man that has a screaming fleshy men attached to its face"
>shit pants, self preservation instincts kick in
>mag dump into exposed enemy pilot
>self preservation achieved
>>15294720
>>15295132
Mirrodin Pure never ever.
>>15295132
>>15295967
I hail our new phyrexia overlords, but damn, I love me some myrs, they are so fucking cute
>>15293672
looking at this just gives me neck problems.
>>15295802
I think the idea is that it's a zombie mecha. The pilot has died and become a zombie and fused with his robot. I mean, if his bloody guts are spilling out (as they clearly are), what will a few bullet wounds do?
>>15295453April Moon
>>15296647
>zombie mecha
Always good stuff.
>>15296647
I think the idea is that the artist just didn't think it through.
>>15295967
>that cocktease with a darksteel angel
Fuck you Wizard of the coast
>>15296211
I love myrs, they can be cute, creepy, industrial looking or futuristic, and even badass while retain almost the same humanoid look and specially that head, the WotC really did a good job with them.
>>15296960
>WotC really did a good job with them
Agree, I really hope we see more of them, specially because as you said, they are so versatile
>>15295885
Thanks.
>>15293672
more like a joke to me
>>15297021
Well, who knows? They love doing "go back to places we've been before" (Ravnica, Innestrad, Zendikar, Dominaria in Time Spiral, hell, Mirrodin Besieged/New Phyrexia was one to the original Mirrodin block) so it could happen at some point in the future. Especially since blocks are much shorter now.
Maybe after Amonkhet we'll see it. Or maybe Theros, or Alara, who knows.
>>15297202
Speaking of Amonkhet, I love how the gods are looking a little bit /m/-ish
