Watching Metal Warriors, Gun Hazard, Assault Suit series games speed runs is pretty much the extant of my interaction with these.
>>15290862
Goemon
It's funny how Bangai-O isn't brought up much, even though it has oodles of Engrish.
>>15290862
Fuck year 2D mechs!
>>15291373
I haven't played the original game, but Spirits is like portable /m/ crack.
Nothing brings me more joy than lighting up a room with bounce-napalm missiles or cheesing those bastard sword robots with the dash.
>>15290895
Gigantic Army was pretty good too.
>>15290862
The oens I've liked are:
>Assault Suits Valken (Cybernator)
>Metal Warriors
>Gun Hazard
>Gigantic Army
MUSHA and Robo Aleste all day; every day.

And then there's Missile Storm on 360
>1000 MISSILES
I had an old famicom game in japanese where you use a robot and fight against really grotesque alien monsters. I think there was some sort of transformation gimmick, can't remember the name just really gorey at the last level in terms of alien design. main mech looked like the Penelope gundam

Is Xardion your card?
>player transforms into three mech forms like a cut-down Getter Robo
>the final level is a Gigeresque bio-planet's interior
>the title machine was brought up in the /vrm/ soccer thread as being a Xi Gundam/Zeorymer mashup
>>15292244
>Xardion
YES
Thank you great /m/anon! I just watched some lps of it and I can't believe I hunkered down to beat that game on weekends without knowledge of japanese.
I fucking love Valken.

It is Valken for PC-98 with porn.
Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie and Gundam Endless Duel are also god-tier games for the Sufami
>>15290862
Metal Storm is fucking awesome
but god, it is hard. I never finished the expert mode
>>15292520
>ugly red turd NES sprite
>not glorious colorful FC sprite
>>15291357
Is there a way for me to play any of the sequels in 2player on console?
>>15292542
