INCLUDING BEST PICTURE!
Why is no one here talking about this? Shin Godzilla has won the awards of Best Picture and Best Director. Well deserved too, I must say.
Discuss this film and it's brilliance here.

What was it even up against? I don't really pay much attention to Japanese film besides the entry level stuff.

It was way too long for the content it had. I was really into it for the first hour, realized how much movie was left, and then skipped to each Godzilla scene because the non-Godzilla parts got pretty mind-numbing.
If the script had had a better editor, it could've been a lot better imho.
Random dumb question but someone related to this movie made a movie that is this crazy Japanese horror movie and I have no idea what the name of it is. It's not much to go on but does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about
>brilliance
I dunno man, didn't seem so brilliant to me.

>calling the "use trains as bombs" scene not so brilliant
Get out of here

Shinya Tsukamoto?

Honestly I thought that using the Tomahawks to collapse buildings via controlled detonation was better, since it didn't rely on Godzilla walking over fixed train tracks.

Maybe I'm looking for the movie, I know it's not a lot to go by but I remember it being super gory and a lot of foam costumes like you see in Sentai and some an on mentioned it in another thread a long time ago but I can't get this movie Out of My Mind and I've only seen the trailer

>that fucking atrocious CGI and cartoon physics
Brilliant indeed.
>>15278701
I cut 'em a pass because this was all done on only a 20 million budget, which is significantly lower than most films.
>>15278703
20 million dollars is no excuse for magically flying trains.
>>15278706
The explosion shock wave sends the trains flying. That's my guess. I don't even fucking know.

He did Tetsuo: The Iron Man.
