***Graze Group Build***
Rules:
Pick any 1/144 or 1/100 kit from the Graze family (Pic Related), and paint and customize it. As far as customizing it, I'm going to place a limit on that. The limit is 50% additions to the kit.
To define 50%, look at it like this, you could take a Graze Ritter and replace the arms (including shoulders), legs, and backpack and I'd call that 50%. I'm not counting handheld bits in that. If you're unsure of something please ask in IRC, the thread, or email.

From what I've seen RG seems to have a better frame and better posability, but MG is 1/100, has 2 swords instead of 1 and his backpack thing that turns into a big bow.

Anyways, new thread means it's time to post Groupbuild entries. First up are the entries that said they didn't want to be entered into the running for the main prize. This of course includes my Geirail, because what's the point of running a contest if you're just gonna award yourself the prize?

This was a fun look into handpainting after getting used to spraycans for so long. Might try it again with the Scharfrichter parts when they come out this month.

With this one it seems that the Tunnel Snakes rule the surface of Mars with the Nuka Graze at their disposal. Nice handpainting on the shoulders and interesting basecoat for the inner frame.

The Graze Kreuzritter takes the knightly aesthetic of the Graze Ritter and dolls it up with a nice White on Black colors scheme with a little red all over. Nice addition with the head crest too.

Got a few kits in the mail today. I'm almost done snapping my Char Zaku 2.0 together. Not sure how many decals I'm gonna apply, waterslides scare me. This is only my third kit. After snapping and panel lining I'll probably start my next one. I prefer to topcoat a few kits at a time. Which should I do next? I'll probably do the Zaku later since the kit I'm working on now is 99% the same.

So, for my first IBO kit, I have to say that this guy is badass. Considering almost all of the 1/100 Gundams use the same frame, I'm really looking forward to getting Barbatos Lupus and Bael. The entire experience was fucking awesome, it helps that the Vidar happens to be one of my favorite designs to come out of the franchise.

RG Exia or RG Freedom?

I've heard that RG kits, especially the earlier ones have some problems. Do either of these have any particular problems (aside from the Freedom not being to stand up)?

As for RGs being finnicky, the only real iffy ones are the Zakus, the RX-78-2, and the Zeta. I love the Zeta, but she's a grenade.

RG Exia is solid kit, absolute perfection and example of how RG kits should be. RG Freedom has a few finnicky parts that fall apart and has a stupid ball-joint skeleton that ensures your figure can't even hold it's own shield. Only SEED-era suit in RG format that isn't "bad" due to engineering is Astray.

I wouldn't call RG Exia perfect.

The big flaw it has in my eyes, is how the waist skirt design inhibits the forward movement of the thigh.
That is a very big flaw for the kit, since Exia is an MS that should be agile, but the limited leg movement really hampers posing.

With that said, it is still a great kit overall, and I very much love mine.

Too bad Bandai been too busy jacking off when it comes to RG Sinanju and RG Build Strike, no excuse for them to use the shitty old seed skeleton when the new Astray one exists for build strike and the whole mess with Sinanju (no hands, tiny little Mk2 skeleton on a giant like Sinanju of all things ) is just jaw-dropping. Qan[T]'s an easy build and is probably the most posable of all the 00 RGs. The proportions are also much chunkier than the official lineart which may/may not be to your liking.

Personally I intend to "slim" mine down a bit by removing the arm guard (they give you the option to build both arms symmetrical), the back knee armors, and customizing the weapon loadout with the Full Saber set I bought.

Steel Seven's been translated for a long time now, it's that Zeonic dropped Ghost cause he's got awful taste and decided more fucking Beltorchika's Children was necessary instead. Like everyone and their mother doesn't already know what happens in CCA already. But Ghost's story finished last year, and Crossbone Dust started up after that, which is set post-Victory and deals with a system where the Federation completely collapsed and warlords now fight to control the Sides and Earth. Not much is translated for Dust either though.

Parts came in a bit too late for me to call it in for the Graze Build.

Oddly surprised the Hugo shoulder has the same-length 3mm peg out to the forearm as do Graze Ein and Lupus Rex. This made tolerance testing a cinch.

You are going to want to wear gloves though, because Steel Wool that fine tends to shed like crazy when scrubbing.

Well that's just it, that isn't the PLASTIC that's making that looked so fucked up.
Looking at the Graze Brothers up close again, I will give you that my Steel Wool Scrubbing did scour them a little...
...But the reason the Graze Ritter parts look so fucked up is because of how much of the Metallic Gold Paint I used is STILL STUCK TO THEM!
It's why I have to use the steel wool in the first place, there is some sort of leveling agent in the Walmart Metallic Acrylic Paint Markers I use that makes it gum up everything.

I probably should break down and start model painting proper, but considering I got the hilt of the Ritter's Knight Blade looking like it is by using the Marker directly, I'm hemming because of the sheer convenience.

I don't have a lot of gunplas but the RG Sinanju is one of them, and while it looks good, it's the only good thing about it. You literally can't pose it without an action base, the shield and wrists pop off a lot. It's frustrating especially when you want it to have the rifle, I tried for at least an hour before having everything good. It's also the worst experience I've had with a gunpla (I have 4 of them).
