Just finished Innocence, and I have these to comment:

1. Any reason why Ishikawa was re-drawn as a contrast to him looking like his manga appearance?

2. Having finished the English dub today, and personally, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Motoko, although not as loud as Mimi Woods, sounded less boring compared to Atsuko Tanaka

She's so frustrated that playing boat simulator at home actually arouses her more than shooting dope while getting fisted, so she insists on having her threesome take place on a boat cause that's what really gets her off. Depending on the bore size, you may be able to slide it in right down the barrel.

This is not always possible, unless you have a 2 inch pinch. With a .223 rifle you would be able, however, to pull back the charging handle, assuming the weapon was cleared, and insert your meatrod into the receiver. Tap the bolt release and you're good to go. Now go make me proud, young blood

That is bullshit, during her trip to the Kuril islands, a random pedestrian notices her neck plugs and is very impressed by them. And later on in that same chapter, a guy tries to get her to come to his back-alley clinic, obviously in order to strip her for parts. And this is a place where people replace their faces with dinosaur skulls, so if she were as cheap-looking as you say, nobody would notice her.

She doesn't look cheap and ugly. She looks fairly mundane but anyone who has an eye for it will notice that she's worth something.

Although her brain is kept still. Under a lot of security. Amusing that despite not needing it anymore, Motoko still treasures her wetware. I mean, putting the box in a satellite and give it multiple redundant life support backups?
>>
>>15286780
>Her boss won't let her go on vacations and she really REALLY wants to cruise around the world but she has to stay available 24/7 to fight crime
In GitS2, MMI, Aramaki Motoko has the power of having multiple bodies at the same time. And one of her spare bodies is literally on a 24 hours permanent ocean cruise. Basically she is always on vacation, even when she is working elsewhere with a different body.
>>
>>15288444
For Japan the Major looks like nothing special. The Kurils are full of a bunch of poor broke russian cyborgs. So of course she looks better compared to the locals.
>>
>>15288444
she's shown as having a mass production body in the anime movie , as well.

while floating down river on the ferry she looks up and sees another person with her body eating lunch. the other woman glances at her and acknowledges it, too. this ties into the self-identity meme that is pushed throughout the movie.
>>
>>15288881
i bet the other woman doesn't have thermoptic camo or capable of super human physical feats, like the Major.
>>
>>15288924
>i bet the other woman doesn't have thermoptic camo or capable of super human physical feats, like the Major.
In the comics, Motoko is meant to LOOK normal, so she wouldn't draw unwanted attention. But her body was constructed under a different process that, amongst other things, gave her higher levels of skin sensitivity from having smaller and more numerous sensors. But she is "only" military-grade, and not really superhuman. Motoko tend to get hurt a lot when she get into physical fights. Her preference is always to hack her enemies.

>>
>>15288824
Deep down she knows that she's not a person and that the only thing that's left of Motoko is a piece of brain, so of course she's gonna hold onto it.
Would be pretty funny if the real Motoko somehow got ahold of a new body and had second thoughts about the whole "digital immortality" deal that merely involves making independent copies of her memories and sending them off to do stuff she couldn't do on her own while she's fucking around in a satellite. She didn't seem very enthusiastic about meeting her "daughters" anyway.

Shit that'd actually make for a decent future-crime thriller.

Wtf are you talking about? The only universe were her cyber-braincase isn't destroyed/emptied is SAC.
In the manga-verse, it's explictly explained that her original self would cease to "exist" and would completely be fused to the Puppet-master's code. Her "children" are just Major/Puppet-master dubbing over cyberbrains at different points in time.

What's happening is "she's" migrated from a physical cyberbrain into something that's like the cloud; ephemerally living on the net itself.
This aspect is also something ripped from Neuromancer, along with the rest of the fused AIs/intelligences stuff.
>>

>>
>>15292617
the net itself doesn't exist on its own, though, it's just what computers do.

Effectively, Motoko is now just a character that computers can be instructed to roleplay as.
>>
>>15294853
The "net" is a network of pure data. It's not the fiber/utp/co-ax connections, radio waves, and the servers they interconnect. It's what's traveling through. The first manga volume likened the net to a tree, the roots comprising the network.

This is all just the internal logic in series though, it's hard to imagine it not like being a stuxnet-like virus that jumps from server to server.
>>
>>15294920
Even if that's what the series claims the "net" isn't a thing. Unless GitS is now a fantasy series with magic in the air Motoko's consciousness is actually distributed across several computers
>>
>>15294932
It doesn't take place in the present, dude.
Also, no comments on ghost dubbing, nuero-connections, and sentient AI being "not a thing"?
>>
>>15294932
>Unless GitS is now a fantasy series with magic in the air Motoko's consciousness is actually distributed across several computers
Actually when Motoko in the manga first got infected, Aramaki called the Psychic department who ignored him, saying they are busy with a major magic incident. This same psychic department had to eat crow in MMI, where they realised that Motoko's children are a new type of life form that encroaches on magic and, in fact, could see astral forms invisible to normal machines.

>>15294943
"pure data exists without support, the Net is actually god and ghosts are a thing" isn't really what the manga tells us.

It's just what 2501 tells Motoko in order to convince her.

And it doesn't convince her.
>>
>>15295052
I don't remember the psychic department being mentioned in the first manga, but yeah there definitely are supernatural elements in GitS.
>>
>>15295052
such as white tanookees!
>>
>>15295070
It's mentioned in Bye-Bye Clay

It's easy to skim over but it's there.

And then Motoko sees that 2501 is actually an angel!

And that's just my own idea but since 2501 doesn't remember her own origin it's entirely possible that the NSA hired some techno-wizards to summon an angel or a ghost, and magically turned it into a computer virus now known as the Puppetmaster.

So even in the first manga there's enough supernatural bullshit to prove that all those who think GitS is "hard scifi" are wrong
>>
>>15294943
>Also, no comments on ghost dubbing, nuero-connections, and sentient AI being
Except they are. Even if they don't exist currently copying consciousness, direct brain-computer interfaces, and sentient AI are all things that have been proposed as plausible technologies and are being researched to some degree.

Software without hardware basically means humans have somehow harnessed a way to freely manipulate electricity in the air at a sub-nm scale at an inconceivable rate. At that point we're not only magicians we might as well be living gods. Either that or we created what will become an intergalactic psychic collective because it's a conscious energy being.

>>15295052

So do we know exactly why Batou happened to have a loli cyberbody lying around that happened to look just like Motoko?
He got it at the black market so he obviously went the extra mile to find a lolitoko body instead of just stealing the body of some random punk like in the manga.

Isn't that a bit weeeeird?

And he's only got cyberware in his chest and arms so he couldn't have used it all by himself. Was he planning to suggest Motoko to try it out or something?

Isn't that kinda sorta weird too?

What does all of this imply about the way he sees the Major, huh?
>>
>>15295998
>So do we know exactly why Batou happened to have a loli cyberbody lying around that happened to look just like Motoko?
Because Mamoru Oshii prefer symbolism over realism. This is why movie Motoko look like a middle aged woman even though the manga has her being physically young. Iit makes no sense to have a middled aged cyborg but Oshii wanted to portray her as old on the inside by making her old on the outside.

Then he wanted to portray her as being reborn by making her a cyborg child. Symbolism over realism.
>>
>>15296012
are you sure it's about symbolism?

I mean he did make every sexbot a loli too.

He didn't have to. In the manga they looked like they were in their late teens/early 20s.

It's the Major's head, you fucking idiot.
>inb4 implications that batou wasn't repeating section 9's debrief
>>
>>15296204
>It's the Major's head, you fucking idiot.
And the only reason it was the same face, but younger, was once again because the director would rather not deal with Motoko in a completely different person's body and confusing the audience. Basically the assumption that the audience is too dumb to know she is Motoko otherwise.

The original Manga had Motoko being just a brain in a box that was put in a different body. Obviously Batou didn't do any head transplants, so there was no reason why he would use a Motoko head. In the end the film was more symbolic than literal with things.
>>
>>15296267
You dim? You saw the scene were they show the construction of a "body", so you should know you'd have to descalp the head and face to either remove or replace a cyberbrain. The idea that Batou could do that and sew her up with no sign easier than a graft is bizarre. He said he went to a black market clinic, why the hell are you putting it on Batou.
Beside the terrible logic involved in thinking he sacrificed his arm just to leave her head in a puddle like garbage.
And as far as time-gap, Batou had time to replace his arm via, yup, a graft.
>>
>>15296267
Also, it's obvious that her head is adult sized while her body is child sized.

Also, it's obvious that her head is NOT adult-sized, because her facial features are DIFFERENT.

As far as I am aware, none of the GitS universes had designed the entire head of a cyborg to be detachable/reattachable. The head is entirely connected to the mechanical spine, and it is the cyberbrain that is a discrete separate unit.

Even with one face tilted slightly down, it's pretty obvious you're grasping for straws.
>>
>>15296448

That's a definite match.
>>
>>15296448
and it's pretty obvious you're blind: shorter eyes-nose distance (the best way to make a character younger) shorter chin and softer jaw.

Any more flimsy arguments you want to pull out of your ass?
>>
>>15296492
as a matter of fact depicting a face from above makes the cheek seem more shallow and the chin pointier. Since it also makes the nose seem longer it doesn't make the face more youthful by reducing the eyes/nose distance.

I can clearly see, taking the perspective into account, that left is younger than right. Thanks for proving my point.

Thank you for proving to everyone that you don't know what you're talking about.

If you could act a little less smug about it, it would be perfect.
>>
>>15296496
>by reducing the eyes/nose distance
Yet increasing the distance from eyes to top of head? Take a basic art class and learn2perspectives. Or keep cherrying picking aspects you like and omitting whatever clashes with your fan-theory, like we both know you will.
>>
>>15296526
I said it DOESN'T make the face more youthful by reducing the eyes/nose distance.

look at yourself in the mirror my man. Your nose won't magically shorten itself just because yo tilted your head down 20 degrees. In fact your nose might appear longer since the bridge is now facing the mirror.

Your eyes/top of head distance will increase for the same reason.

And as a result of all this, you won't look younger.

You might look younger if you do an extremely high angle shot like a mid-2000s myspace slut, but the slight angle in your pic isn't enough to magically turn an adult head into a child's.

No, not much, only slightly because it makes the jaw seem pointier, but doesn't change the aspect of the chin.
>>
>>15296555
>it makes the jaw seem pointier

you need glasses, bro.

Anyway the point is that a very slightly higher perspective won't make a face seem younger, and more screenshots will quite clearly prove that Motoko's face is younger after Batou got her brain transferred into that new body.

it's the exact, precise same screenshots
>>
>>15296597
oh I'm not. I'll let you do that.

The pics already posted are proof enough of what I'm saying, but apparently you think it's all a trick of the perspective despite it being impossible.
>>
>>15296602
See
>>15296448
And
>>15296550

You keep sidesteping the fact that if it wasn't just perspective, you wouldn't see more top of head and less point of chin and nose. Sidestepping with some bullshit about "younger" that only you've been talking about. Compare to two pics, the both show the same shift. That's the thing about perspective, less you see of one thing the more you see of the other.
>impossible
Impossible would be if you actually and finally consider it the ratio shift of both, and not what you've been doing by focusing on the receding lower face and ignoring the advancing upper head.
>>
>>15296631
>they both show the shame shift
no they don't. They aren't even remotely from the same angle. Why would I see more top of head than what little is revealed by the slight downtilt in the movie?

Anyway having a higher forehead isn't what makes a face look younger.

Having a smaller eye/nose distance is what does.

And despite being seen from a perspective that LENGTHENS this distance, loli motoko does in fact have a shorter eye/nose distance.

So even with the "oldening" perspective, she looks younger.

I do see more top of head, which proves that this perspective would normally make her look older if she had the same face.

which proves that if she looks younger, it's IN SPITE of perspective.
>>
>>15296658
>>they both show the shame shift
>no they don't. They aren't even remotely from the same angle.
Wow. This is just sad. It's like you knew you fucked up by equating shifts and angles but decided to post anyway.

>Anyway having a higher forehead isn't what makes a face look younger.
>Having a smaller eye/nose distance is what does.
Nobody said that... what's with you and moving goalpost by changing the subject to "younger"/"older". I've only ever talked perspective.
And yet again you completely miss the point that these two things together are telltale signs, along with the fact that these things are the only differences, that the change is in perspective.

>despite being seen from a perspective that LENGTHENS this distance, loli motoko does in fact have a shorter eye/nose distance.
Why do you keep repeating this false info, look at:
>>15296550
And pay close attention too the difference in chins, look at the lines that denote measure of distance. 3/4th view is snubbed as fuck, just like the kid body w/ Major's head.
>>
>>15296583
>and more screenshots will quite clearly prove that Motoko's face is younger after Batou got her brain transferred into that new body.

Nope, the only shots of lil Major that aren't at fucked angles have already been posted. She's only in the last few minutes, dude.
>>
>>15296703
why are you talking about perspective if not to "prove" that loli motoko has the same face as old motoko when that's clearly not the case?

And stop linking to that pic that's not from the same angle as the screenshot, it proves nothing in your favor.

As you can see, loli Motoko does NOT look snubbed as fuck.

she looks younger in spite of the fact that this perspective should make her look older by lengthening the eyes/nose distance

I keep repeating that because it's an obvious, immediately observable, visible fact, which you keep ignoring because for some obscure reason, you really really want loli motoko's head to be the very same head she had before having her braincase transplanted.
>>15296717
oh, how convenient
>>
>>15296734
I'm gonna leave this as is, clearly we're at an impasse, and it'll be pretty obvious to anyone reading that there's some heavy cognitive distortion going on with you.
>oh how convenient
What? Have you never seen the movie? You should know how little screentime that got.
Jeez, lazy as fuck.
>>
>>15296753
In that very short screentime there is more than enough to prove that her face has changed.
>>
>>15296781
Then do it, faggot.
Don't just say there's proof without actually knowing. The side-by-side would've fooled facial recognition software with all those identical points, but by all means, put up or shut up.
>>
>>15296802
>facial recognition software
>hard to fool

dude, I don't need to post more screenshots, the one you posted already proves that she looks younger in spite of the perspective.

You did my job.
>>
>>15296012
It's justified the same way it is in the manga, Batou got a body on the black market, that was the only one he could get.
If anything this makes more sense in the movie where you could easily imagine lolicons buying up gothic lolita shell. She's basically in the body of a pedophile's sex robot which is why Batou remarks that it's "not his taste". Plus there's an added layer of symbolism that goes along well with it, but the situation itself isn't too much of a stretch given what we've seen of the world in GitS.
>>
>>15296811
You're dumb as fuck, man. Like real mentally challanged. Keep jumping between it being "shorter nose/jaw" because of youthfulness and "shorter nose/jaw" because of perspective cuz you know it can't be both and you've lost every point of your argument spectacularly.

Thank for making me look so good by being so bad. I accept your defeat, which was signaled by your circling the same lost arguments over and over and I hope some anon hours from now enjoys your mental disability.
I look forward to you knowing I won't ever read your sad response, and you raging like a faggot by yourself in this thread. Alone.
