And it's not like they don't have really good camera systems, the mobile suits are proof of that. My biggest issue with IBO is how unrelatable Mika is. Hush seemed like the answer to that given he's fresh blood and had a semi relatable backstory.
One of IBO's biggest weaknesses is giving the right amount of spotlight for each character. Mika gets way too much for a complete autismo.

I can't speak for everyone, but Setsuna got a massive boost in my book together with Tieria when they teamed up to fight the Thrones. That episode was pretty much the turning point whereas 00's plot is concerned and those two were the driving force.

Mika hasn't gotten a similar moment, I feel like. He started out as Orga's loyal ace in the hole, and he still is. All that's changed is that he's willing to tell Orga to shove it when Orga prioritizes his survival over the mission. Tekkadan as a whole don't feel like main characters to me since they're not really making their own fortune anymore. They're just along for the ride and reacting to the plans of others.

Because Mika is nothing like Setsuna in terms of development. They both start out as child soldiers but whereas Setsuna changed over the course of his show and became less broken as a person, Mika has remained static. Hell, he's happy that he doesn't have to worry about getting ready for a life outside of Tekkadan anymore and can just remain Orga's weapon.

One of these characters grew, the other is happy he doesn't have to because of his disability.

Mika was more engaged with everyone at the very beginning. Every time he used Barbatos's full power he gets more remote. They really didn't make it super obvious and ham handed, which is amazing, so it's easy to overlook. I only noticed when I started watching season 1 again.

They do get a little clunky with the farming reveal right before he gets fried fighting the MA, though.

Sudden/breakneck pace character development with Gaelio - coincides with sudden change in MS and underused assets for shameless model kit sales numbers.

Flauros and Vidar were terribly underused MS assets and I can't think of a good reason why. Vidar could have easily participated in the MA battle and even before, but now suddenly gets thrown out to shill the shittiest looking redesign of Kimaris to date.

I don't know how to feel about shino's death. In one side I'm happy because killing Rustal so early would have felt terrible. Besides I've been waiting for Tekkadan members to die since S1. Shino and the others are working with the wrong person and that's something I can't forgive. On the other side seeing Shino fail and burn to death was just too sad. But I guess this is how things are sometimes. In short Karma is a bitch and everyone in Tekkadan needs to die. And this is coming from someone who likes them.
