take a look at their lap times on those road courses.

stock cars weigh 3300 lbs (2200 lbs is common on a competitive sports car) and have pizza cutter tires and brakes compared to any other serious road racer.

If a stock car goes over track kerbing the audience cheers. If a sports car does it the audience wonder what they bent/broke and if they are going to be able to continue the race.

That difference alone speaks volumes to me about the differences between the two types of racing.

Don't be fooled by their force road-course struggles, stock cars don't have an environment that's any slower than a real road course, and it makes the racing uninteresting compared to any famous stock car track.
