I like tattoos, but I like to keep them subtle and 99/100 inkers will fuck up a mechanical design anyway, so logos/emblems are the way to go. There are factions I prefer but they don't have good emblem aesthetics. Londo Bell and OMNI have awful insignias, and Zeon shit looks too much like neo-nazi signage.

Zegapain is unironically my favorite /m/ show for story, and I liked the designs they just didn't go far enough with the hologram concept and make the battles interesting.

The CG didn't even bother me.

I think Flags and Tierens are ugly as fuck. Flags look like a tiny jet on skyscraper-tier stilts, and in jet form the rifle makes it look like an elephant, which was something I hated about the Zaku I as well.

Tierens are just bloated, tumor-filled Zakus with shoulder shields that don't work, giant dick knees/dickbutts, super soakers that do nothing, and the single ugliest pilot helmet in the entire franchise. It looks like the pilot stuck their face into a vacuum cleaner seriously what the fuck. And it's stuck in an eternal t-pose.

On a similar note the Anf/Fanton is similarly ugly as sin.

People keep comparing S2 to Zeta because of the A-Laws=TITANS and Katharon=Karaba, but other than those entities, there aren't really any similarities between Zeta and 00S2.

I prefer toku to anime, and specifically sentai because I like color-coded combining mecha instead of just single-pilot mecha. The worst part is I have barely seen sentai, and just claim to like it because I religiously watched MMPR to Dino Thunder

Okawara's mecha variations are mostly shit.
AGE's dinosaur designs sucked, the later regular ones were good though.
Gundam mouth vents are ugly and all the best designs are ventless.
Turn A is really ugly, not just its mustache, everything except the legs is hideous.
Grazes have some of the best variations.
Qubeley is ugly and overly wide.
Unicorn was good, well not really the last episode.

With right treatment Battletech designs can be great. The licensed ones were reiterated so much that they became their own thing. MW is simply more immersive than AC. Latter, however, has superior customization.

The bombast. It's like shounen anime and superheroes, but with giant robots. But not just the cheese, hype and action flick pacing. Gritty and battle damaged gunplas are way too overdone to be cool now. Same with the gritty dioramas.

Decal and panel line spam makes MSes and kits look like over-designed messes.

Never got the appeal of super robots and toku (I thought Power Rangers was stupid as a kid).

The PTSD ship is one of my favorite parts of VOTOMS.

0079 series is a chore compared to the movies.

Poorly worded, but this. One of the big barriers to entry to gunpla for me was actually the people who say things like "if you aren't going to go the full nine yards and paint it, why not just buy an action figure?" and ">not adding any weathering or battle damage".

I don't think that Bubblegum Crisis was that good. It was just another "okay" 80s OVA that earns reverence because it had a strong female cast with lots of "grrl power" moments. The plot was nothing special, the character designs are no more interesting or unique than any other 80s anime character designs (yet they get praised to high heaven because muh Sonoda and muh FLOOF), and the characters themselves weren't really interesting. It's embarrassing to see BGC threads full of nostalgiafags circle jerking and reminiscing about jacking off to it 30 years ago while spouting stupid memes like MUH FLOOF.

I have a sizeable Gundam folder, but I don't particularly care for the franchise. The majority of my favorite series are AU, and I don't have any reverence for UC, although I recognize it's contribution to the evolution of the mecha genre.

On that note, I guess I'm not that big a fan of military mecha as a whole, and I can't stand gruntfags who want every series to be Band of Brothers with robots. Although this is really only seen in the Gundam fandom. Wonder if there's any correlation there.

Well yeah, people want the robots fighting without the constant war is bad and (especially in modern Gundam) understanding messages.

This isn't quite as prominant in other mech franchises because they typically either portray one side as inhuman barbarians that need to be killed or make the bad guys outright aliens from another planet.

While Gundam tries (keyword being tries) to have the whole both sides are equally black and white like 0079 tried to have.

It could be self-selecting. I'm similarly not particularly enamored of the Gundam series, but I have tons of gunpla.

I follow them particularly BECAUSE it strokes my grunt plamo boner. No other series gives its grunt mecha as much love as Gundam really does, particularly due to its own size and support from Bandai compared to say Votoms.

With every new iteration of Gundam, I get more grunts, which is why I follow Gundam and buy gunpla, which leads to BanRise investing in more Gundam, and so on.

If any Gundam paid little to no attention to grunt mecha I'd drop any an all attention for the franchise in general until it was alleviated.

I won't fault you for your tastes because they're your own, but as someone who only recently finished SEED, I can tell you of the many gripes that made it my least enjoyable Gundam series to date.

Also how did Kira get transported from Earth to Lacus' home on the colony after he was knocked out? That didn't make sense to me.
At first I thought Lacus' place was on earth, but then they show the Kira taking off in the Freedom out of the colony and heading for earth.

The only Gundam I've seen is the two SEED series.

For a long time I thought red being 3x faster was a reference to the orks from war-hammer 40k.

-IBO season 1 was complete dogshit but I think that season 2 is one of better ones of the recent decades
-Thunderbolt looks great but the horribly written and unlikable cast completely ruins the experience for me
-I think that beam swords have got to be the lamest weapon I have ever seen in any form of anime and have a hard time taking any Gundam show that utilizes them serious
-I prefer more sophisticated mecha designs over the blocky shit you see in the older Gundam shows
-I think Fafner is by far the best mecha show around

I first came across Gundam when I downloaded Gundam Vs next plus to my psp (I didnt know even about the existence of such shows, so it was a simple fighting game for me. Futhermore, I didnt know japanese so I was blindly pressing buttons) and now, when I have watched all the Gundams up to IBO, I sometimes feel stupid because:
- For some reason I thought that Amuro's name was Taisa (because while figthting against Lalah, she was constantly saying this word)
- I thought that Puru and Puru 2 from ZZ was the same person, but Puru 2 was looking older, so I assumed that ZZ was showing the period of time not of 1 year, but 6
- I thought that Kou from 83 was a retard because sometimes he was speaking with female voice (I didnt know that he was speaking with Nina )
- Portrait of Char when piloting his Zaku was without Char's space suit, but his portrait when choosing Zeong was with space suit, and Char in space suit seemed to me as a simple usual soldier and I was questioning myself why some army will use such stupid design without legs and give it to simple soldiers.
- Yet my autism reached it's maximum when I was thinking Kamille, Emma , Quadro and Four were some SWAT squad because thier MS were with different abilities: Z can transform into plane, so I thougth he was assault type, Gundam mk2 was able to change weapons, so I thougth Mk2 will be charging after Z, Hayaku-Shiki was able to shoot hyper-mega particle canon, so he seemed to me as a supportive type who can figth against armored targets, Psycho Gundam was big, so I thougth that Psycho was doing tank role. Moreover I thougth that Paptimus was a middle-aged woman-servant because of his haircut and his fat MS
