Reinhard had a personality that was basically destined to lose to Yang. Yang more than once made plans that he was hesitant because if Reinhard didn't act in the prideful, magnanimous way that he always behaves then his plan would fail and the rebellion would be crushed overnight. This is why both sides believe if Kircheis didn't die Reinhard would have steamrolled the enemy because Kircheis was the one military minded person who could get Reinhard to go against his instincts.

Hilda had a fresh view point and had no warriors pride bullshit to blind her so she saw through a lot of Yangs ploys, similar to how Oberstein saw through them but the difference is Reinhard likes Hilda on a personal level.

This. Reinhard wasn't perfect, nor was Yang, as many people like to pretend. They were both defined and shaped by the people around them, and had their own flaws. They were these "galactic heroes" but the show made a point to show that they were really just normal people.
