She and that whole anime only season really pissed me off. The way the anime team chose to color Hikaru's hair also triggers my autism hard to this day. Fucking color blind Japs cant see the difference between red and fucking magenta

Oh, and the artstyle was ass too. The OVA's style however actually looked pretty nice and was much more accurate to CLAMP's style then the shitty anime.

But it wasn't anime-only. There was a second manga that roughly corresponded. Ended with Hikaru breaking the fourth wall to ask the reader to name their new world, Neverending Story style. Just, Nova and Debonair were made for the anime. And Alcyone stayed dead.

I used to be right up until they started that Tsubasa shit and decided to decanonize the ending to CCS (which had one of the best and most complete endings of any series they have produced. Both anime and manga counterparts)

That being said, their art for Rayearth was far FAR superior then that piece of shit anime adaption that can't even get colors fucking right.

I was 15 when the anime came out and I hated it then too. While the OVA seems to pay more respect to CLAMPS artstyle while still having it's own take on color, story, and even the style of the characters. The line art in the OVA seems a long more put together and on model where as the anime has more implied and none uniform lines.

That being said, the animation was pretty good even though I wasn't keen on how some of their hair movement was animated and how jagged it always looked.
