Barely any motivation to do anything just fight and barely talk or get any development. I feel when he does things like hug a girl its just like the writter just push the scene to make him redeemable but to me it look awkward as hell.

They can make any excuse they want. Its not the kind of character I want to see.

A lot of soldiers reenlist because they don't want to handle everyday lives. They don't want to listen to the bullshit civilians complain about each and every day, and instead return to a place where things were simpler and they had a clear purpose. They don't do it because they're combat junkies, it's just other worries seem trivial after fighting to keep your friends alive in a hostile environment.

That is Mika in a nutshell and a major part of his arc up until now. Mika was trying to prepare himself for civilian life once Tekkadan made it to "that place" by doing stuff like learning to read and farm. But despite all this, he wasn't able to make the transition. He couldn't make new crops grow, and despite having money he didn't know how to really spend it (still better than Shino's queat for hookers). He suffered disabilities that prevented him from having that normal life and instead was happy he didn't have to think about that anymore. He could now focus solely on fighting for his friends, and now Atra is going through hell to give him a reason to live outside of Tekkadan.

The problem is that Mika doesn't think, just follows orders. He lacks direction of his own outside of supporting Orga, and if Orga breaks down Mika will put him back on the path they've been on. In a way Mika, and the rest of Tekkadan for that matter, have really halted Orga's growth as a person. They all forced Orga onto this path, forcing him to be the leader he was expected to be rather than, you know, a leader who makes good decisions.

I once did a 3 post summary on a Pepe thread about how Mikazuki was the embodiment of Tekkadan, and I still maintain that right now.
