In the span of one episode the seven star families demonstrate that the rules are abided by only as strongly as the weakest follower of those same rules (McGillis), McGillis' waifu now hates him, his father-in-law hates him, his "other comrades" turned out to just be a dozen rebel officers, rallied the entire organization against him for his dastardly acts.

If he hadn't contractually obligated Tekkadan to help him before it all wen't down, he would've been 100% fucked.

This episode was all one massive fuck up for McGillis. He has no more aces up his sleeve.

So, let me get this straight. Bael has been sitting around for 300 years in Gjallarhorn's hangar, and Gjallarhorn forgot that AV implants are needed for it to work. So many, many dumb bastards got into it and tried to activate it only for it to not to work since they lacked AV.

McGillis sets up the Graze Ein in order to do research on getting himself the AV implants and activating Bael. Now, since Gjallarhorn forgot how the MS worked it became legend that only someone worthy could pilot it and lead Gjallarhorn.

So, his entire plan is reliant on people having forgotten how a single MS worked even though the technology wasn't lost. Teiwaz can have a database on Gundams from the Calamity War, but there wasn't even a note that said "This machine needs AV to work" anywhere in Gjallarhorn.
