There weren't even that many customs in Try to begin with. Most characters either had OC suits or just straight builds with no mods or customization. Only Gyanko, the 3rd Meijin, Yuuma (barely), and Ral had customs of any kind.

Build Knuckle was only used as a finisher in the latter half of the season, and wasn't the only thing Sei and Reiji knew how to do. It was just their strongest melee attack, which fights tended to resort to as time went on and weapons were spent.

Portent doesn't actually differ much from the Sakibure, certainly less that lightning or gyancelot. It's a green Sakibure with a Gundam face.

Gyancelot is still pretty heavily based on the gyan. Aside from the entirely new weapon and backpack it just swaps out a few of the external armor bits on the torso and limbs for the knight theme.

BF had a lot of references to other Gundam series that Try didnt have. The kids who looked like jerid and kacricon, episode 23 in general, to name a few. If there was going to be a season 3 i hope it'd go back to its roots. And IBO kits featured as well (Barbatos as the main villain)

Also wimp is one of the GOAT Gundam OPs I've heard.

It would have forced Sekai to actually learn how to use weapons and not just jigenspam his way through everything.
Plus, I love the countdown trope where things grow progressively weaker, and their trump cards are numbered.

Him starting this game with a h4x broken suit out of the gate and bullshit marysue kenpo powers and NEVER learns how to do basic shit just makes him an unlikeable unrelatable twat. Then add the whole 8 year old shounen protag being shoehorned into a jr.high/middle school harem with very well developed young women then you get just a recipee for outright trash.
